An excellent question. Perhaps one of the officers could enlighten us.

Hilarious Matt.........Steve has been doing all the legwork and getting info on several local hotels. We are narrowing it down, trying to figure out the best place and take everything into consideration- price, accomodations, etc. It's in the works- we haven't chosen the official site yet. Still shooting for Oct 7th at this point. That's what we got up to the minute........

Matt, don't get it.

If we're having problems finding a hotel location that has lodging rooms plus a room to rent on that date, we could consider opening our options to finding a restaurant near a hotel (obviously as close as possible to the selected hotel). Maybe even considering providing transportation if the distance ends up not being within walking distance.

Anyone know of this scenario? I'm too far removed from the valley to offer many examples. But one I'm thinking of (and I don't have all the details) would be the Applebees (?) near one of the hotels near the airport, over by the Beef Baron (Longe's second home).

Just trying to think of other options.

I ran into Steve last week, and talked about other options. He is now looking into a Blue Monkey type of option, with tranportation to a local hotel. Doing it all at one location seems to be a longshot at this point, as most places are booked for our desired date.

Todd, thanks for covering the update.
I am still getting information sent via email and as Todd said, I am trying to get a site with possible shuttle/transportation. If anything good comes up, I will let you all know.
The agent I am dealing with has sent out a "blanket request" to ALL the Lehigh Valley hotels and a deadline of this Friday. Got one last night, but $7,000 and WAY TOO fancy. The only hotel/halls so far that have responded with the possible date are in Easton.
More when it comes in.

how many rooms do you expect to need? I can't imagine it will be more than 10-20 considering many people still live in the area or have family near by. Sometimes working with "agents" makes things more complicated and don't they charge a fee?? It might actually be easier to just call around yourself or check online many places hold rooms for internet access only and often offer a cheaper rate.

Freeman- Let's have the reunion at the Linc's parking lot !!!LOL

Does anyone know if Julie Kollar has heard about this blog? Really would like to get her involved since she is the treasurer. Need a status on funds......

Kim, here is Julie's parents number to call to try to reach her: (610) 264-0908 from a Yahoo search.

I like the Blue Monkey plan w/ transp. Maybe we could rent a van(s) and line up a couple dads to help drive at designated times? IE. reunion 6-10:00?, van(s) from hotel at 5,6,7:00, back to hotel at 9,10,11,12:00, etc.

yes, that is julies parents #--on the post from Robb sighting her at subway "Classmate Alert" it states that she said the account is still active. (i thought i saw somewhere in here there was $2000...possibly someone just joking around though?)

Kim- I have Julie's E-mail Address.
What is yours? I will e-mail her address to you. She did say we have 2G's in the coffers. But it's buried on the banks of the Lehigh River.

If we end up having it at a place like the Monkey, but get rooms at a place like the Jetport...the hotel may provide a free shuttle...

Okay LongE- we get it- you don't have to tell us twice.
Rob- my email address is ckfelix@juno.com
Thanks for your help everyone!

Not sure how the heck that happened. Sorry Kimmy!

I'm starting to think that a barrel down at the river might not be such a bad idea after all.

For what it's worth, here are my 2 cents....Just concentrate on securing the location for the event itself 1st. Then you can lock down the Hotel (or two if necessary) later. I'm guessing that not everyone will need a room -as MJ mentioned above. Hopefully, not everyone will be "stupid drunk" either -and there will be 1-2 people sober enough to drive if necessary (I'm allergic to alcohol and have a mini-van (YES - I'M admitting that)..so I could drive your sorry asses if necessary (No PUKING!!). At least this will establish the Date & venue. Worst case, everyone can make their own Arrangements for the evening (There are a ton of web-sites for that!). Time to Roll!!

Jeff - how many people does that mini van hold??????? Could be an interesting road trip!!!!!!! I'm starting to think that I'm also allergic to alcohol.....I drink so much and then I throw up.....what's that about????

andrea said...

randy....novel idea...don't drink so much!

randyg said...

Andrea - you think that will actually work???? I'll try it next time.

andrea said...

no, i don't think it will work....i tried last night but after all the wine i drank....ugh...

Randy,

I can fit at least 6 in the seats. Maybe another 2-3 way in the back....Stow-n-Go is a good feature...we could even fold down all the seats to see how many we can cram in. Remember -NO PUKING!
