Mary Kelly...

Hello everyone,

It was great to see all the familiar names and see how you are all doing. The pictures are wonderful! Greetings to you from Schnecksville, PA. I didn't travel too far from home. I lived in Pittsburgh for a while, but I moved back right before I got married. I still get back to Catty to play in the summer volleyball league and always look for familiar faces and have seen a few over the years. I will be celebrating 14 years of marriage this May. I met my husband when I was at Penn State, so this has been a great football year for this family. Marty and I have two children. Kyle is 8 years old and Michaela is 6. They are an absolute blast. They make us laugh and remind us what's most important in life. I've been working with Procter & Gamble for the last 15 years and have never bought my own car. Gotta love sales! I've managed to evade the usual relocations that occur with sales and we're settled here in Schnecksville (Parkland District) for the last 7 years. To get away from it all, we hang at Elk Mountain many weekends throughout the year. If you need to get away, look us up. Look forward to seeing you all at the 20th!

Mary Kelly

Hi Mary Kelly, it is good to hear from you. It has been ages since I saw you. Your children are adorable. I'm glad to hear that things are going well for you.

Hello Mary ! Great to hear from you. I ran into Marty a few years ago at Chucky Cheese.

Hi Mary, it is so great to see you are doing well. Your children are so cute. They do look like you! Your son looks like your brother also. Do you still keep in touch with Monica Pammer?

Yo Robb. Are you going to Delaware Park on Derby Day? Dan?

Vicki - Hey, question for you, how do you solve a problem like Maria? :)............I saw your family picture......very cool you world traveler! Congratulations on your impending birth. Please post pictures of you new baby. I'd love to see them.

Lew - How the heck are you? It has been way too long. I miss the idiots! I have to confirm your recent siting. Vanilla ice cream with sprinkles is a weakness in this family. It was great to hear the latest with you. Congrats on your family!

Kristen - you are right on the hokey carnival....oh the money we spend on our little ones huh? Thank goodness for you to help us make the connections to keep us all in touch. I recently met a woman at a basketball game who bought my parents old home. Small world. Glad to see your kids will be wearing brown and white. That makes me smile!

Rob - There for a while we were seeing you all over the place. Marty did mention he saw you at Chuck E. Cheese. I hope you're doing well and I think you were working on a computer business, is that right?

Andrea - I love how positive your posting was. Massage therapy has to be a huge deal. There are plenty of stressed people. Thanks for the words on the kids. Rob has five kids and his oldest is almost a clone of him. Yikes. How is your sister? As for Monica, it's been many years. I heard she was a Physican's assistant.

Sorry about the lengthy message...just had to catch up

Rob has five children? Wow, where is he at and what does he do? How about Laura? Yeah, massage is big out here. My sister is great, she is teaching high school english at Liberty...that is a yikes. My kids had skate night last night and it got me thinking back to those "skate-away" saturdays...

Mary Kelly, glad you're here and that you are doing well. The kids look great. What school do they attend in Shnecksville?

Thanks MKC. We do like to travel! Can't go anywhere this year because of the baby, although my husband did do his annual weekend trip to Spain with his buddies! Andrea, the Southwest is on our list of places to visit, so maybe someday we'll be out in your neck of the woods.

tmmullen said...

Annual weekend in Spain? Muy bueno.

It makes the annual four-day weekend that Matt, Long-e, Joe, Dave, and I spend at the Jersey shore look like a night out at Maingate...

Hey Mary!

Vicky said...

Spain is only a two hour flight away, and it's muy cheap to go. They call themselves the "Groovy Gang" (long story there) and basically it's 8 middle aged guys let loose in a major European City for four days. For the last three years they've been to Spain, but next year they're looking at Lyon, France. BTW, when I said we weren't going anywhere this year, I meant to say we would try to get to the reunion!

tmmullen said...

Thanks for making me feel better - but it's still Spain. A whole other country from the one in which you live. We barely make it out of the state. Como se dice, "loser"?

Speaking of which, nice use of "muy." Did you like my gratuitous use of "muy bueno"? Yep - fours years of Spanish in high school and I remember about a year or year and a half's worth. I blame Mary. She sat next to me and was always passing me notes.

Vicky said...

I was very impressed with your use of "muy", despite Mary's attempts to completely sabotage your Spanish education! My husband and his mates (there's a Britishism for ya!) go on their "language and culture" (that's what they call it!) trip every year. This year they were trying to buy tickets to a football match and sent me a text message asking "How do you say 8 tickets for tonight's match please?" I briefly entertained the idea of texting back "Mi mujer dice que tengo un bicho bastante pequeño" which means "My wife says my penis is quite small."

tmmullen said...

Wait a minute... I think I heard my wife say something like that to a waitress at a Mexican restaurant the other night. They laughed and laughed. Not cool Zeus, not cool.

So, a "language and culture" trip. That's good. We have a few three word names for our trip too. No, I don't plan on sharing any of them.

andrea said...

vicki....quite humorous....thanks for the entertainment. i'm pretty impressed at your all spanish...considering i lived in puerto rico for 4 years and can't speak a word.....not to mention all the trips to mexico? que??

Vicky said...

The only reason I remember so much Spanish is because I get paid to - I'm a Spanish teacher! Lost weekends in Mexico? I've had a few of those too...

andrea said...

now...were they lost or just don't remember due to tooo much tequilla?

kristen said...

oh my god, too funny vicki! my son just came home today with a paper for me to sign regarding whats expected of him now that he is starting spanish this week...i told him to tell his teacher i dont want him learning spanish, they should be teaching all the people who speak spanish to learn proper english!!! slightly kidding, slightly not

andrea said...

Now that is good....out here every other word is english/spanish...you have to listen very carefully and then piece it all together.

Vicky said...

Well Andrea, when I was in college, I had a good friend called Jose Cuervo! :-)

Mare said...

Dave - My kids go to Christ the King in Whitehall....at least for now. We live in Parkland school district. Probably they're future.

Andrea - Rob lives in York. He's works for Bunzl, a paper company. Laura's in MD, 3 kids and is working for an adoption agency - lots of grandkids in this family

Todd L. - Sorry about Spanish class. Maybe I was hoping to excel in a language since you were a bit entertaining in 8th grade English if I remember correctly.

Adios

andrea said...

yes vicki, we have a lot in common with jose.....except i didn't go to college....when is that baby due? you have a laptop to take to the hospital so in between pushes...you can keep up with all of this?

tmmullen said...

Andrea---It took everything in my power to not respond to your laptop comment by suggesting that Vicki also consider a webcam. Oh crap! I just did!

MKC---Was that comment for Todd L. or Todd M.? See that's why we go by long-e and mullen. As for 8th grade english, I was part of a duo back then - credit where credit is due.

pauko27 said...

Parkland? Isn't that where Mike Gehringer is principal??

Mare said...

Hmm. I'm not sure about the principal. I'll find out. That's impressive if that's the case.

Mullen - it was you my friend. How could I forget the deadly paper and yes there was a duo involved. Good memory. "Todd everything seems to revolve around you"....can you place the quote?

Mare said...

Dave - just checked. Mike is the principal of Kernsville Elementary. You are right. We would likely end up at Schnecksville elementary though.

tmmullen said...

That was a classic quote. I can see her face, but I cannot recall her name. She was the half-year sub for Ms. Bell and we made her life a living hell.

For those who might be interested, there were five rows of seats across and five rows of seats from front to back in Ms. Bell's 8th grade English classroom. I sat in the third seat of the third row. Literally the "center" of the classroom - the center square if you like. Well as you know, I was a bit of a troublemaker and I freely admit I caused problems - along with my partner in crime.

But the sub could never quite catch us in the act - she knew, oh boy did she know, but she always missed whatever we were doing. Then one day, I swear, someone else was being disruptive and she lost it on me. She came over and leaned over toward me from the front of my desk. I pleaded my innocence [even I am appalled right now at how arrogant it was of me to be offended that she would wrongfully accuse me of this crime the ONE time it actually wasn't me].

I said, "It wasn't me." Then came the line I will never forget, delivered in all seriousness, "Maybe not, but everything always seems to center around you..." The words just hung in the air as I glanced the left, glanced to the right, and in a perfect deadpan replied, "Well sure, I DO sit in the center of the room."

I don't remember anything after that. Mary, do you? Was that when she separated me and my buddy? Of course, by putting us on opposite sides of the room - she just made things much, much, worse. Yeah, she really didn't think that one through...

Mare said...

TOOOOO FUNNY! I do remember her name, but I'm going to see if someone can come up with it. Poor woman. She never saw us coming. I do remember you getting moved over by the heater. It blew hot air and you would place small pieces of paper on it so when the air kicked in they would float in the air like snow. Again, I say, poor woman.

tmmullen said...

Yes. Yes! YES! I held that story in reserve. But since you brought it up, here's a bonus question:

Those bits of paper were targeted to float down on a nearby classmate's desk in an effort to annoy him/her. Name that classmate...

If you need a hint, I'll tell you this: It worked. 99.9% of the time.

andrea said...

ok todd...you had to suggest that, but will she do it??? and by the way is it a girl or a boy?

and you a trouble maker...NO.....not you....

Vicky said...

MKC - It was Mrs. Urland. God help that poor woman! She probably retired from teaching after that!

Vicky said...

Andrea, baby's due in 3 weeks. Webcam? Where? In the birthing pool? Uh, no. But I'll be in and out of the hospital like a flash, because I have enough catching up to do with you guys just overnight.

Todd, John (my husband) asked me to pass on that he would be happy to be your/Matt/Joe/Long-e/Pauko's escort around the pubs of Doncaster and the sights of Amsterdam. Name the date (except for 3 weeks from now - he'll be busy!) and he's there for you.

Mare said...

Mullen - The paper - was it Dan or how about Tracy Payne?

Vicki - you got it! Nice job!

tmmullen said...

Andrea---My impulse control problems led to that comment - but it looks like your on board with the webcam!

Vicki---Urland! For some reason "Unangst" was rolling around my cobweb-infested attic of a brain - but I knew that wasn't right. As for a boys trip - thanks for the spousal approval. It might be a while, as we are currently working on our own spousal approval for a Key West boys trip. If we are successful with that, the next step is Europe. Amsterdam baby!!!

MKC---Payne is a good guess - but sadly, no. Okay, another hint to whittle down the pool of possibilities: This classmate was a girl.

Happy guessing!

Vicky said...

Mrs. Unangst was a bus driver. Spousal approval? Promises of bringing nice gifts back always worked for me. But nice, not touristy shit. Last year when they went to Barcelona, I sent him to a bookshop with a list of books I wanted for my seniors, and they got too wrecked the day before to get up on time to go to the store before it closed, so all I got was a picture of a friend of ours standing outside the bookstore!

Vicky said...

Mullen, has this classmate that you tortured posted in any way, shape or form on this blog?

tmmullen said...

Too funny. And to answer your question - not yet. Which will be the next topic after her name is revealed...

Mare said...

IT WAS JAMIE!

tmmullen said...

Bingo.
