Hmmmm?

Subject: Red Skelton, how did he know?
THIS MAY NOT BE ON LINE TOO LONG. SO SEND IT TO ALL AMERICANS
AND MAY GOD BLESS
This is so unbelievable. In 1969, how did he know?

Some of you may remember him. Red Skelton was a movie and TV star, and a good, and funny man. He also ended every show by saying, 'GOOD NIGHT AND GOD BLESS.'
Click the link below and listen to this clip, to the very end. It is something he said 39 years ago.

Very important that you listen to the whole thing, to the very end! It's eerie!
Take a moment and listen to it (from 1969). How would he have known that this is what is happening?

FOR THE FEW WHO DON'T KNOW: Red Skelton was a movie star and comedian on television back in the 1950s and 1960s. He created a number of characters, and his show was watched by millions..

That is amazing.....I never understood why people want the pledge removed from schools....just don't state the "under God" portion if you don't want to say it.

Standing up every day and listening to students butcher (or worse stand and not recite) the pledge is sickening. They don't care, and you can't teach caring. At times I'll say, "You should be ashamed", but it does not affect them in any way.

On a related note: I sit here during "study hall" where I have nine students. At most times only one or two do ANYTHING. Most just put their head down and sleep. I actually have a student who sits with his hands crossed and stares at the wall. He doesn't sleep, just stares at the wall. I often wonder what is going on inside the brain of such a student. Today, one student is doing work, one is reading and the rest are just devouring valuable oxygen. As one of my colleagues once stated, "we should have a report comment code that reads, 'oxygen thief'.
Hey Vicki, how is your situation over on the other side of the pond when it comes to patriotism?

Honestly? They think Americans are bonkers. They don't understand all the flag-waving and God Bless America. The Pledge of Allegiance is indoctrination, and in a country that prides itself on its freedoms (freedom of religion being one of them), a president that governs with his faith is a religious leader and therefore no different to a religious leader of any other faith. The British prefer understatement, and overt patriotism is frowned upon, probably because it reminds them of WWII and Nazism, who were uber-patriotic.
