Superbowl picks?

Who will come out of the Superbowl with a victory? Will it be Manning and the Colts? Will it be Grossman and 'Da Bears? Let everyone else know what you think. Also, post a score (before the game, Randy) and see who gets the closest.
Are you going to watch the game? Will you host/attend a Superbowl party? I see no one chose either of these teams so far as their favorite, but maybe Sandman likes both (we all know he likes whoever is winning at the time).

Bears Win
Randy G. (27-24)
Kristen B. (42-28)
Steve F. (35-31)
Terri K (wants the underdog)
Andrea L (???)

Colts Win
Jeff P. (27-17)
Sonya C. (???)
Michelle H. (???)
Lew W. (19-13)
Dave P. (31-21)
Robb P. (44-29)
Mike M (28-17)

Steve - why the heck am I being singled out for posting a score first???? Bears 27 Colts 24

Randy, I figured you'd be looking and knew you'd reply as soon as you read it.
My pick is Da Bears - 35-31 (score will be closer than it looks, Colts get garbage points at end to make it look good).

I would like to see Manning get a win but the Bears just seem to be a better team on both sides of the ball.

Steve - I read the blog like my daily newspaper. There is only a core group that responds anymore.

I know; I read it MORE than the daily newspaper. I think we need to spice it up and start talking junk about people to get them involved (or do you think that is a bad idea?).
Lew hardly blogs anymore. Dave is nearly out. I saw a comment from Andrea, is she coming back to the blog?
You can't tell me these people are THAT busy. It seems only MJ, Kristen, Vicki, you and I are addicted anymore. What's up with that?
Matt, you don't count. You are the Blog Master and are REQUIRED to be here. Sort of like me being required to sit here in study hall with 29 students, all of 3 of them are actually doing anything; and we wonder why students do so poorly on all the tests, maybe because they do NOTHING when given the chance. For crying out loud, it is the last period of the day and you would think they'd take advantage of being able to get their work done. But no, they draw on their notebook covers, or worse yet, just sit there with their arms crossed, looking at the clock every 35 seconds. I'm rambling, and I have to pack my stuff up. Later Randy, Kristen, Vicki, and Maryjo.

I look forward to seeing new posts....just not many coming in these days. I wouldn't advise trash talking about anyone. Lets pick some topics and comment on them. It could range from parenting issues, jobs, mid-life crisis (turning 40), or life itself.

Like Vicki, we all have parents who are getting older, some have passed on. These are difficult subjects to deal with at times and maybe we can help one another through these times. Some people have trouble asking for help. We're all on the same boat here so why not help one another by talking about situations on the blog?

Just a thought.

I think lots of people are still around, just lurking or don't have much to say. I have to admit I've been away from the U.S. for so long that I can't even remember what football looks like, so I stay away from those threads so as not to look like a total ass. I know people are still out there because when I posted about my mom, Judy and Andrea replied, and they haven't said much for a long time, but they're still here.

We've been doing this for a whole year, and while things have quieted down, they haven't ground completely to a halt. I think that's an achievement in itself. But it would be nice if people just popped in from time to time and said hi, just to let us know they're still around. Randy is right though. We do need some non-controversial-yet-fun-to-discuss topics.

randyg said...

I agree Vicki - it would be nice to see some others just say hello to let us know there still with us.

Steve may have some grieving issues he would like to talk about. ha ha ha.

i check this blog like 4-5 times a day...guess that shows where my priorities are...kinda creepy knowing people are lurking out there and not chatting...heck this IS my adult conversation for the day

Steve Freeman said...

Randy, I wasn't serious about the trash talking. I really just wanted to wake up some people. I liked your comment about the ADULT talk. Did you get a degree in Psychology when in school? That was very non-juvenile of you.
Kristen, I also check it many times throughout the day (especially during my study halls) and as soon as I log on (whenever I turn on my computer at home).

Blurking....no friggin' way...>TRASH TALKIN is in!
Although Grossman is a Gator -I have to disagree with Randy, The Colts are better on Offense, The Bears on D -and the special teams is a slight advantage to Da Bears (Hester on Returns / Vinatieri on FG's...). Peyton is due...Colts 27 - Bears 17.

During the week, I check the blog multiple times a day. My computer at home is quite slow, so I don't check that often on the weekends.

I have even recently posted blogs to try and get conversations going, so I am offended that I was excluded from Mr. Presidente's list of normal posters.

My life is quite boring and I never know what to talk about so I don't necessarily so anything - but get a good laugh looking at what everyone else has to say.

Well, I believe the Colts are going to win. I have no idea about a score, but it will be close and a high score.

Michelle (Heist) Edwards said...

I agree with Jeff. I think the Colts will win and then we can stop listening to all the crap about Manning not winning the big one. It should be a good game. I am Dolphins fan so I don't really care who wins.

Colts 19 Bears 13
....the kickers will decide this one...Grossman is ready to choke, again.. Manning plays well enough not to be the goat..........MVP-Adam Vinatieri and yes, i have been "blurking".

Steve Freeman said...

I knew Lew was around somewhere. I did not actually think he was working since the hockey game. Also, I could smell cabbage, don't know why, but it reminds me of Lewis John.

lw said...

cabbage??....

lw said...

have you been playing with your "White-out" again?

Steve Freeman said...

I don't use white-out. I use brown-out

Which team is the favorite to win? When there's not a time I'm interested in, I choose the underdog. Makes for a more interesting game!!

Here's a thought. Do you think the NFL is going to allow this (and maybe last) opportunity for Peyton Manning to pass by? Not calling a fix, if you're going to put a few bucks on the game, the Colts are the obvious choice.

Defenses about the same at this point. Colts much better on offense. Special teams definitely go to the Bears. If Indy doesn't cover kicks better, Hester could be the Colts downfall.

I'll stick with Indy, not in a blowout but controlling most of the game, 31-21.

if not a fix, what are you calling it? don't tell me you've lost faith in the integrity of professional sports?

Steve Freeman said...

Robb, where did you come up with that score. 44 (6 TD and a safety?) and 29(2 TD and 5 FG?)?

ok, ok, ok.....i'm not really gone for good. life has been crazy here on this end and i wish i was one of those out there lurking! i haven't had the chance to sit and be here too much for the past few months, but things are lightening up. my pick are the bears....i am an eagles fan bigtime, but since they didn't make it thus far, i am going with the bears. (and only because the new guy in my life likes them)! it's just nice to see teams that haven't been here in a while!

other than being busy, can anyone explain the 30 degree weather, snow and ice we've had out here? get me some 100 degree weather and sunshine!!!

andrea, drop me a line...kbb408@rcn.com, where the hell are you!

Steve - can we change our picks?

Steve Freeman said...

sure

How about with 2 minutes left in the 4th? Is that too late to change my pick?
