The Pets Continued

The Siberian Husky is Storm, he was my last dog and one of the best dogs/friends I have ever had. He has earned the right to be recognized as one of my pets. I had to put him down on New Years day in 2004. He was 3 months from his 13th birthday.
My current dog Drago is a boxer and is getting ready to turn 2 years old and is quite a handful, a completely different dog then Storm but is turning into a great companion.

Cute dogs....I hope you meant "being a handful" in a nice way.....

Ray - you meant "being a handful" in the sense as shredding couches, chewing the legs off tables, and nosing through trash......right.

Yes I meant a handfull in a good way. Boxers just require more attention then my husky ever needed. Jerry, I am with you on the cuddling thing, mine just can't lay next to me in bed without using all 4's to push against my back and try and push me out of bed. We are working on this! Randy, he at this pint has not been much af a shredder except for his toys, thank God but I'm sure that is a challenge that is going to present itself shortly.....Thanks for bringing that to my attention....LOL

Come on Ray.......this was our opportunity to mess with Sonya. You could at least said the dog ate half the carpet, ate the covering of the bed, and other kinds of destructive things.

OK well how about this one. My daughter comes walking out of her room after being in there alone with Drago for about an hour or so and says "Daddy I fed the dog". Come to find out that she fed him all the wonderful colors of the rainbow from a box of Crayola's. My yard was very colorful for a couple of days.

Ray,
The dogs are gorgeous! I remember the crayon thing with GG (remember her?). These dogs are a far cry from your lovable mutt-Maggie. My parents loved her more than any pet they had.

Thanks Ray for not messing with me..... Randy seems to be have "mean streak" in him.

Well, the puppy has been with us for 30 hours now, and we have had only two accidents. I'm quite proud of her. I have never seen anything go as much as she does...she pees and poops at least once an hour. So you can guess what my first evening was like.

I am thinking about taking time off from work since I am getting no sleep and I really don't want anymore accidents.

She is the most affectionate dog I have ever seen. She constantly wants to be touching one of us and boy does she give kisses.

I'll post more with pictures later.

No "mean streak" here! Just having some fun. Do you have a crate? Where does the dog sleep at night?

Hey Terri, yes I remember GG! Maggy was a great dog, I'm glad she brought happiness to your parents.

Sonya,
What you're describing sounds just like a newborn baby! You'll be a great 'mommy', I'm sure!

The dogs are beautiful. I have never owned a dog. Jenna has a black lab at her dad's house and he is really cute. I hope all is going well for you. I am sure you were disappointed when KC lost in the playoffs but at least they got there unlike my team. Take care!

We have a crate for her, but she panicked when we put her in. She has spent most of the last two nights in her crate, but last night was so cold, I had her finish the evening with us on the bed.

I know that I was bad for letting her on the bed, but she was shaking so much, I couldn't stop myself.

Anyone has suggestions for a puppy staying warm?

I have one of those crate beds in the bottom of it, but it doesn't seem to be working for her.

Just place a loose blanket in the crate. She will be fine. You can even place a blanket over the top and 3 sides of the crate to trap the heat in. Just leave the front gate area uncovered.

Sonya C said...

I have the three sides covered and I had a blanket in the cage.

Any other suggestions OR am I worrying too much?

You're worrying too much.

She may be shaking more from the whole "NEW" experiance and not from being cold. She may miss her doggy mom. Give it a few days. Don't bring her in bed again unless you plan to let her stay there, stick with your plan and be consistant. My dog actually has nothing in his crate he likes the cool bottom but the blanket over the sides is a great idea.

Sonya - so how were the last couple of nights with the dog?
