Marika Santee (Chronister)

Received by email:

Hi,

This is Marika Santee (now Chronister). I came across the blog by chance and have gotten some good laughs from the elementary school pictures posted. It's totally wild to see names and faces of people I haven't seen in years. I left Catty in 1980 when my folks divorced and we moved to Bethlehem, so I haven't really kept in touch with too many people. I'm emailing because I'd be interested in connecting with a few old classmates - like Judy Almazan. I also have some old photos of one our elementary (or middle) school track and field events that I'd be willing to post for a few good laughs.

Marika it is great to hear from you. Looking at old pictures I wondered what happened to you and some others who left Catty during our middle school years. I hope life is treating you well. Be sure to post a blog of what you are up to now and also some updated pictures. Take care!

Marika - Great to hear from you!! Believe it or not, you played a role in the naming of my Daughter (Mariska). I really wanted to use my grandmothers name (OLGA) for the middle name and my wife and I discussed what the heck would go well with a good old fashioned Russian name like that. I shared some names with her that I thought would go together and in the process I mentioned your name. My wife kind of liked Marissa (although that was too Italian for us) and I suggested that if you combined the two you get Mariska. Low and behold, upon some additional research I learned that this too is a common russian name as well -although the only other "American" with that name that I know is Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order SVU).

I thought you'd appreciate the story. Maybe we'll see you at the Reunion!?! (Assuming El Presidente invites you -if he hasn't already!).
