Randy and I have admitted to owning the Green Machine.
Any others out there that had a Green Machine or was a Big Wheel professional rider?

Hey Steve....I did a search on line and there is actually an adult size one with a 26 inch front wheel. You have to check that one out. We could do the The Tour De Dark Town on those bad boys.
I don't believe I ever had a Green Machine but I did have a Big Wheel. You could make the Big Wheel do a 180 also by riding down a hill and then slamming the pedals back.
Didn't have one. Looks pretty cool. We had a couple Wiggle Wagons, though. Here's the only pic I could find.

I've never been much of a big internet surfer, so when I do something different like searching for articles on 70's kids toys, I'm always amazed by what people talk about on the internet.

yes, i was the proud owner of a green machine prowling pennsylvania ave on the south side.
I didn't have a Green Machine as a kid but I did ride one when I was about 37. Couldn't quite get the hang of it without tipping over. My son especially likes to ride it when there is a dusting of snow on the ground. It makes is spin extra fast.
My husband tells me that, unfortunately, the Big Green Machine never made it to this side of the Atlantic. Having now seen what he missed out on, he is angry that he was denied the BGM experience, and his Big Wheel was just a poor substitute. Poor guy. ;-)
Lew, I remember you cruising in your Machine. You were king of the south side, baby!!
Carol - you must read the advertisement for the "green Machnine" It says "For GUYS 8,9,10 & Up years old, Who Really Know How To Ride". Sorry.....It's not made for girls......they just can't handle it.....that's why you didn't get the hang of it.
I know you aren't suggesting that this is something girls can't do??? Bring a Green Machine and I bet us girls would give your guys asses!!!
Sonya - I'm just reading what is on the advertisement. It's just not for girls!!!!!! Sorry....they just can't handle the "stick" steering.
I had a big wheel....but I also broke one of Tom Sipos Green Machine while doing a power slide (It snapped in half at the seat!). HE WAS PISSED!! Maybe I was older than 10...but I never weighed more than a 100 pds. until high school!
Jeff
Perdick, you weighed 100 lbs in high school, who are you kidding?
Girls can handle the "stick" better than boys any day.
Took you long enough to respond.....and that's all you have????? Sorry....if you aint got one you don't know how to handle it!!!!! Ha ha ha.
Freeman -I really did hit a buck fifty by our senior year. I can't say the years have been unkind -but I'm well beyond that now!
