Someone tell my kids the Flyers lost !
Reily 7 and Abigail 5 are avid hockey fans.
(because they have no choice). It took about ten minutes to change their minds about wearing this to school.

great pic Robb, it's good for them to learn early the heartbreak of following Philly teams.
rock on robby- like it - had a bit of a party tonight?
dc'd in sburg.
glad i canned the tickets - couldnt stand to be in philly for yet another loss....suck it up and go back to bleeding purple!!
Robb, sorry about our Flyers. At least they went down with a fight. Good to see you getting your kids into hockey.
BTW, do you remember the name of the mascot the Flyers used to have back in the 70's? I used to have this big, like 2' x3', coloring book about the mascot. I guess I could do an internet search to find out...
nice picture Robb now how about your BIO.
Dave- did you see the same game I did the other night? I think they "went down" laying on the ice and got trampled, no fighting at all. I used to LOVE the Flyers til they traded Brind'Amour. Ever since, I've been mad at the Flyers....I know, I'm weird. He was their heart- he's gone and they have none. Talent- yes, heart-no. Can't win without it. :(
BTW.......Robb- your kids are adorable!!!
Dave, I don't remember the mascot's name but I can remember some kind of mascot back then. I will try to google that one!
Yes, the Flyers ended on a bad note. It was especially rough watching it live.
Typical Philly sports let down.
Robb--I could never really get into hockey, don't know why, maybe because the scoring just comes out of nowhere so often that even the announcers are surprised. Then I went in person (thanks Lou) and had a good time. I could only imagine a playoff hockey game live - must be amazing - well except for that last one.
Kim--Speaking of the last one, when I read what Dave wrote, I assumed he was being sarcastic. maybe I'm wrong.
Matt--Stealing my lines? Have we learned nothing about the pitfalls of plagiarism?
ALL--I am referring to a post I made on our blog about taking my daughter Paige to her first Phillies game last week. I said, "of course they lost – thereby laying the foundation for her lifetime of disappointment." But the ice cream helped and she met the phanatic, so that was cool too.
Rob, great picture. Your girls are adorable! Sorry about your team.
Thanks Carol-
Well, don't be sorry, I always enter the season with low expectations due to history. I am on my 15th year as a season ticket holder, so I seen it all !!!
After all is said, I still bleed black and orange every October.
Hey Robb, I'm not a huge hockey fan, but I am a fan of your kids. They very cute. I also love the house decor. Very cool. I think I may have found a color for my foyer. Thanks!
Nothing compares to playoff hockey, ignoring the Flyers last loss of course. Kim, yes I was being sarcastic, but trying to sneak it in to see who would catch it. And agreed to let Brind'Amour go was a travesty.
Mare- Behr paint, I can send you the color name.
Rob - I was serious, send it my way.
I will dig the label up tonight. The color really works well in the kitchen.
I was wondering how many hockey fans were out there. Olympic hockey was great this year and now it's playoff time--it sure makes it hard for me to concentrate on finishing up school. :-) Hockey is the only sport I care about and I developed that interest when I lived in Pittsburgh. So yeah, I'm a Pens fan. And yeah, there hasn't been anything to cheer about in that regard. But I can really enjoy the playoffs without the heartbreak so that is one good thing.
I'm cheering for the Oilers and the Avs in the West and Carolina (go Brind'Amour!) in the East. Unfortunately, I don't think Carolina is going to make it past the Devils. Ugh, the Devils. Really, at this point, anyone can hoist the cup as long as it isn't the Devils.
Robb--Awesome pic of the kids! Yeah, I kept thinking that the worst thing about the Flyers loss was all those kids I saw in the stands. :-(
Mare--After we bought our house the first room we painted was our dining room and that was orange. Since this was before grad school we were have a party and I was in my orange and black dining room wearing an orange top and black pants and I realized in horror that I had painted my dining (and living rooms) in Flyers colors. D'oh!
Anyway, I went with Glidden paints. :-)
Donna- Hockey rules. Glad to hear you are a big fan and quite up to date on the playoff happenings. Hockey is a big part of my life. I coached a local High School team for 12 years. However, since the children arrived I had to scale back alot. I still play 1 to 2 nights per week year round-the only exercise I get!!!
Go Sharks !!! But it loks like the Devils are the team to beat.
Robb(and Donna) I am appalled (sp?) at the fact that you (especially Robb) are bleeding black and orange...that is like taboo in this town!!!! Both my nephews and niece are konkrete kids and I always tell her how awful she looks in those colors!!
Kristen, it has been so long I actually *forgot* that the Konkete Kids wear orange and black!!! My bad.
heh--And to think I thought I was going to catch hell for being a Penguins fan!
Mare- The label on paint can is ruined however the mix codes are;
Colorant 0z 48 96
C Yellow oxid 1 36 0
The paint is interior flat Pastel Base.
Hope this helps !!
Kristen- I live in Koncrete Kid Territory. Watch what you say or I will egg your house ..LOL
Robb forgot to mention the real reason he plays hockey....the excessive "after the game" boozing.
Nothing wrong with that.
Play hard, drink hard, right? ;-)
What do you mean Longo?? I played last night and was home by 2 am. !!!
Robb,
I think we have the same Behr paint....Quiet Veranda??
With regard to the Philly sports thing....weren't you guys smart enough to catch on by now? Why do you think I was a STEELERS fan at an early age. Winning is so much more fun.
Jeff
ahh Jeff the front runner. I assume you like the Yankees too.
Jeff-So you too jumped on the bandwagon this January.
Not a Yankees fan....They BUY their championships. Anyone can do that!
Robb - I've been a fan (not on the bandwagon) since as early as I can remember...'74 or so.
For the record I do root for the Philly teams. I just don't have ANY expectations for them...
Jeff-I was only busting on you. I actually remember you were a Steelers fan. I am happy the title is in Pennsylvania !!
Well Robb...I am a die hard Flyers fan too and it was quite painful the last two weeks watching them play, if that is what you want to call it. I hope Rod B takes Carolina all the way. I really like Recchi and Leclair so I should have switched teams when they left but just couldn't do it. Jenna doesn't follow hockey. I am looking forward to football season.
It's great to hear about all the women into hockey. Robb, maybe there's a possibility of a women's hockey league?
Which post was removed and why? Too much anti-Philly sports talk?
i didn't remove anything. LongE? Mullen?
I removed it. Robb accidentally posted the same comment twice. I just cleaned it up.
Dave -Women's hockey is really booming here in the LV. My oldest daughter started playing this fall.
She loves it !
