UPDATED 2/28/06: Even though we have heard from only a dozen or so individuals, it appears a front-runner has emerged and that is Option 5. So I checked on the availability for the Catty Park Pavillion: Nothing in July or August - but it is available Saturday, September 2nd. This is the Saturday of Labor Day weekend (sorry Vicki and Carol). I was shocked to discover it was available that day and, just in case, requested that they pencil us in. [Dave, don't worry about the cost, I'll cover the money required up front to reserve it - if that is what we decide to do]. One of the benefits of this date is that the pool will still be open and we would get a group discount on pool tickets which would be good all day.
In addition to reserving the pavillion, in order for Long-e to effectively analyze our options for the evening portion of the reunion, he really needs a date. For that reason, I suggest we all weigh in on whether or not Saturday, September 2nd is an acceptable date for the reunion (come on Vicki - you can sleep on the flight home the next day!). I would be grateful if DAVE/MATT could send an e-mail to all those for whom we have contact information asking them to either visit the blog or e-mail us with their opinion on the matter. I agree with MJ that we want to make as many people happy as possible, but reality dictates that we move forward sooner rather than later. So unless there are a number of strong objections, I hope we will all consider 9/2/06. Thanks!
ORIGINAL POST FOLLOWS (2/27/06):
We should probably start talking about our reunion plans. But before we decide on a date - I was hoping we could discuss some options and their potential positives and/or negatives. The cost is a very general guess and would ultimately depend on the amount of class funds available. [Hey Sandman - get on that with Freeman and Julie will ya!].
After we give everyone some time to weigh in, including those who have yet to visit the blog (Joe I'm looking at you - slacker!), Matt will set up some type of fancy voting thing. If there are any other ideas not listed, please feel free to share them. Thanks!
Option 1:
Picnic/other daytime event (kids welcome).
Cost: Pavillion rental, picnic food, and non-alcholoic beverages. Alcohol would be BYO. Likely a small admission fee per adult.
Option 2:
Evening formal event with a sit-down dinner and bar in a reserved room or banquet hall.
Cost: Space rental, food. Cash Bar. Likely a large admission fee per person.
Option 3:
Evening informal event with a appetizer type food thing and cash bar in a reserved room or banquet hall.
Cost: Space rental, food. Cash Bar. Likely a medium admission fee per person.
Option 4:
Evening informal event with everyone on their own for food and drinks at a bar or restaurant or hotel.
Cost: Pay as you go.
Option 5:
Combination of picnic during the day (kids welcome) with informal evening gathering at bar/restaurant (preferably a place that is open late and has overnight accomodations within walking distance). Attend one or both - it's up to you.
Cost: Pavillion rental, picnic food, and non-alcholoic beverages. Alcohol would be BYO at the picnic. Small admission fee per adult for the picnic. The evening gathering would be pay as you go.
Option 6:
Some other event not mentioned. Please feel free to suggest options in the comment section along with associated costs.
So let's start planning the "I peaked and I'm kidding myself" party!
Hey Jenny Slater.
Hey Jenny Slater.
Hey Jenny Slater.
Well, I was just trying to get a little validation for my life. I guess I came up a bit SHORT!

Please also let us know if you are able to give money up front before the event, as it may be needed for a venue reservation.
Anyone know if we have money in the class account?
The evening/night option at a hotel gives the option for those visiting and those drinking too much to have a room to crash.
Dave - I think you're putting the cart before the horse with your first comment. As I mentioned in the post, we do not know whether or not there are any class funds and if so, how much is there. As a result, at this point, I don't care whether or not anyone can send money "up front."
Instead, the intent of this thread is to get some general feedback on what type of event people would most like to attend. Once we have a better understanding of the top one or two choices, then we can start looking at costs and by that time we may even have a better idea of how much money the class has. But let the finance conversation be another post.
As Matt said in the uco blog - let's try to stay focused.
hey todd, i gave you my $.02. you know what box to check for me.
i call bullshit on that.
speak your mind publicly woman.
here's my 2 cents......i say make it very informal it could make things more comfortable for some of us who aren't sure about going. I don't know if I would attend a formal reunion especially since my husband wouldn't know anyone and I am not really close with anyone from our class at this point in my life. Renting the pavilion at one of the Catty parks would be just fine with me and I think it would be more enjoyable and less intimadating.
btw - for everybody who is confused by Mullen's "Jenny Slater/came up short" segue. Gross Pointe Blank - best reunion movie ever.
oh, excuse me mr. hollenbach. first i suggested seattle. any takers?
the 2 part deal makes sense to me. fun in the sun, bring the fazam, super casual, then for those who are into it, get a little swanked up if ya like, and hit the booze. people like options. i'll most likely be staying at hotel anyway, so i'll be up for the adult night outting.
oh, and me likey labor day. no likey traveling during thankgiving mayhem.
i also like the 2 part deal/however i dont think its necessary to have any thing formal at night...casual bar type, appetizers...
if no 2 part i say adults only! i dont get out much!
so far nobody is routing for thanksgiving, that might get scratched from the options list.
i agree with kristen - i don't think it should be a formal sit down either. just hang at some bar some where. it'll be so weird not having the house to come home to. they had the house for 45 years!
Awss.
and as far as when---i say no summer due to vacations...May would prob be too soon, lets say Sept Oct....Thanksgiving is always good however need to book a place pronto if we do that...we could all just crash some place that fri or sat night after the Roughs beat up on the kids
and if we do it during football season, i prefer a sat night, Roughs play on Fri
Todd, I think you are wrong. Money is one of the most important parts of this discussion. If it wasn't, I'm sure everyone would love a free lunch picnic, followed by a free sit down dinner (maybe lobster?) and a free cash bar of drinking all night. : )
We've already had a suggestion to rent a pavilion, which requires, well, money! We definitely need to discuss where money is coming from. I'm just not afraid to bring it up.
Dave - don't worry - nobody is going to ask you to pay for anything. we're all adults - everybody knows that nothing is free.
i added a sidebar link for this "lets talk reunion" post so as it gets pushed down we don't lose track of it. we need your thoughts to move forward.
well, i'm up for the 2 part, however i won't be bringing my kids they will have school, too much money since we'll be back there three weeks over summer...
an evening of pay your own way, casual night out....pull however long you want....keep it as simple as possible....but if you need money in advance.....just ask!
Okay, here's my 2 cents...
Since most of us have kids and our spouses don't know anyone, an informal picnic type thing is a good idea. However, Memorial day or 4th of July would be better for us just because I won't have gone back to work yet. (I go back on July 10th) Can't do Labor Day because I have to be back at work on Sept. 4 for a training day, can't do Thanksgiving because we don't have that here so I don't have any time off. Obviously, majority rules so whatever you guys decide is fine. We'll be there in spirit!
And obviously, whether we can attend or not, we'll make a donation to the reunion fund so you can have a drink on me!
I obviously lean toward the adult/night thing. A cocktail/appetizer party would be perfect. The 2 part option would also work. If we are shooting for a date between late summer to October, reserving a room at places like the Jetport could be tough, and that is during wedding season. I will start inquiring about availabilities.
I like the two part option (picnic and informal for adults only) and I agree with Vicki that we should try to plan this with person's work and school schedules.
I like the Catty pavilion idea because that leaves alot of options for the kids and for our uncomfortable spouses. I also agree with the suggestion that we try to get group rates for those coming out of town at a local hotel.
I also like the two part option. It would be fun to meet everyone's family for a picnic, but it would also be nice to meet just adults so we can hang out and talk without worrying about the kids. For this part I would also rally go less formal. We are pretty flexible about the dates, but labor day would be a harder time to get together because alot of people go away that weekend. Just my $.02.
I opt for the 2 parter. I feel that we should also do it in the summer time instead of fall. If we do the picnic thing we could plan a little early morning golf game for those who are interested. You know....get the party started a little early. I guess we can count Andrea in on that. We could do a little "best ball" tourny and have some gag gifts at the picnic.
R--You're a man after Long-e's heart. He suggested some sort of golf outing, but we didn't think enough people would be interested. However, once we decide on something, maybe you and long-e can put something together for anyone who is interested. I know I'm in.
Is anyone thinking that we need a committee to do this. I think it would be best if like 5-6 people took charge and got together and then made the plans. Taking into consideration what others say. Afterall you will never please everyone and someone will always be busy or unavailable no matter what day you pick. The committee could possibly send out a survey and get everyones opinion and then take it from there. This definatly needs some "formal" planning even if the event is not. The 2 part seems like the best option so far and late summer early fall would be best. I am sure many popular dates are allready booked.
Freeman... We don't want the reunion at Lincoln Field's parking lot.
You people really need to sleep more.
Anyhow- I was talking to Mary and we came up with a weird, crazy idea. Having the reunion at the (now old) high school gym. I have a call into Sandy Superka (she's on vaca this week) to see if this is even possible to do the whole catering/alcohol thing, but we thought it would be different! Again- I am finding out the logistics so we'll see......
Whaddya thinka that?
Maryjo, you are right on target with what we are thinking. We've come up with some ideas to lead the discussion, now we want to get everyone's input. Then we plan on putting out a survey in a couple weeks. Majority will rule, of course. In the meantime, some are checking the venues for availability of dates and costs.
I think Longe is checking the Jetport and Blue Monkey. Lew said he would check the Catty Club. Kim is checking the school (interesting option). Looks like we need a volunteer ASAP to check the Catty or N.Catty playgrounds.
If anyone has other ideas or options, please consider checking into them right away.
Tx. Dave
Kim - cool idea, let us know what you find out.
I certainly will...We thought cool (and corny too). I'll even spring for the brown, white and gold streamers to decorate.
If that doesn't work- we thought summer and renting a tent on the school grounds as another option. I'll find out the scoop on all that stuff and get back to everyone.
Dave the Reunion Fascist--Relax. Once I saw the interest was there, I was on it. Waiting for a call back. What happened the laid back dude we know in high school with the "Don't Panic" sunglasses?
K--Renting a tent might be less expensive than the park pavillion, but I'm not sure how the school's liability would be if people brought alcohol. It's sad we have to worry about those things. My wife and I were talking last night about some of the stuff our cool teachers did (Abbott and the snow day; Walenta and the NYC trips) and how in this day and atmosphere - teachers wouldn't do anything like that.
Yeah, because we have this thing called "risk assessment" which is a huge pain in the ass. Takes all the fun out of school trips.
I don't recall ever suggesting a golf outing, but that could be a fun addition on the morning of the reunion.
If the reunion takes place at the High School gym....are we all going to dance in the bleachers to "Jesse's Girl" by Rick Springfield?
Hey Lew!
Love your idea of cocktail party (adults only) and our 'own' music. I am sure lots of people would enjoy putting that together. But we have to have Old Milwaukee- beer of choice in Lew's basement.
Hey LongE
Can girls do the golf outing too?
And after Jesse's Girl we have to end with Stairway to Heaven.
I am thinking anyone can play. You a gopher Kimmy?
Lew good point about weather - just a thought - maybe a pavilion with the old highschool gym (or other lolo$ spot) as a backup?
although i like kim and mare's original idea for the old high school gym, it is currently being renovated to be the new Catasauqua Middle School, due to open in Sept...and knowing the current school board, they will definately not go for it and absolutely not alcohol--they dont even let the cheerleaders sing, "3 cheers for old Catty High" anymore due to the alcoholic content!!!
as far as weather trouble may go, i too am up for just an informal adult type thing
They won't let them sing the 3 cheers for old Catty High'!? What is up with that? I think they are taking life just a little too seriously. Wow.
guess they think the youth of today is like us, and the words to the fight song gave us the idea to go get drunk, we wouldve never thought of that had it not been for that song, please...but i know, kids today are smarter than us (sarcasm here) this song has been around for years, my mom's planning their 45th reunion and they sang that song...there has even been articles in the paper about it believe it or not...but dont worry, me and a few other"old timers" still sing it loud and proud!
MJ - It could be the "Middy Committee"
Kim - Anyone who wants to play golf can...even if you're not good at it.
Lew--Good point about an alternate rain location should we have a picnic.
ALL--If you haven't already, please see the update in the original post. Thanks.
Excuse me Randy- I am guessing you are referring to mullen about the not being good at golf....I know you wouldn't assume that because I am a woman that I wouldn't be good.
kristen- articles in the newspaper about it? Don't they have anything better to write about?
Sorry Kim - I was just offering an open invitation to anyone who wants to play even if you never played before. That's all I meant. I hope some women would like to play along. Are we cool now?????
Dearest Randy- Of course we're cool. I was just bustin'. Where is Judy when I need her??.....
Oh- Labor Day weekend is bad for both Mary and I. I like Lew's idea of Columbus Day weekend. It's a holiday weekend but not as big of a deal. But of course, if Labor Day works best for the majority- you gotta go for it.
Hmmmm 10/7. Well....shit, i'm single. Any weekend is as good as the next.
Kim....how's your game? Can you handle drinking a beer per hole?
labor day ok here, actually anytime ok except 7/14-7/31
I'm okay.....i get out only a few times a year but I really enjoy it and I am okay at it. I just have poor etiquette. I scream and carry on when I make a long putt or something.
Could I handle a beer per hole? Sure. What the hell?.....maybe beer would improve my game.
You scream and carry on when you make a long putt or something? Ok, we'll put you in Mullen's 4some.
I say we let Freeman make the plans for the reunion. If it flops, we paddle him and he runs home......
Long-e--Penn State is at Minnesota on 10/7, so I'm good. But will a picnic be a good idea then?
Mary & Kim--It would have been nice to know earlier that Labor Day was out for you two. Slackers.
10/7 could still be ok for a picnic. If it is cold, we will just replace the beer with hard liquor. Brrrrrr.
We like to keep you hangin'- we're not slackers.
Sorry, I just thought of it.
Hi Kim !
Robb...you going to AC on Saturday?
Long-e--Yeah, because we never drink beer in November at Penn State tailgates!
Randy I nearly cracked up when I read you post.
labor day it out for me I'll be vacationing in Southern California. Columbas day would be good and I don't think its too late in the year to be outside. Again we will never all agree.
Columbus day is shaping up. It may actually be a nice time to have it. Summer will be over, and the holidays will still be far off.
Robb!! HI there!
So what dates are good for you? Don't want Mullen to think you are slacking.....as far as October is concerned- Don't sweat the weather. I was married outside in the month of October and it was beautiful- oh no it wasn't, that's right, it was a friggin' monsoon! I think Lew was there.......
Robb's reunion opinion:
I think we need to vote on what venue we prefer; picnic or indoor event. The indoor event being casual with appetizers and drinks.
Once the majority vote reaches an agreement on the venue we can move to the next step, how much $$ people are willing to kick in. At this point we can setup a budget and start looking for a place and availability. With all this being said, we need to reach out to the non-bloggers by mail, phone etc... sending out a questionaire on venue and budget ranges. This needs to be done asap.( I am willing to help where ever I can). Once we gather this information, the " Committee" can make the decision. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate everyone, but if we get these items decided early enough our attendance will be much higher.
I personally would prefer an evening event on a Saturday, very casual, appetizers, DJ and no children. I love my children dearly, but I am looking forward to grown-up time and socializing with my classmates. I think we could proably pull something off like this for less than $ 20 person, excluding open bar( not fair to non-drinkers) yes... I drink like a bafoon but too bad !!!
Longe, yes I am going to AC. I was also on the Foxwoods trip until it was cancelled. You going to AC?
I'll second that!!!!
Me three!
i love robb's idea....
Robb - "you the man"
Matt - can't we create an on-line voting site? Show all of the options and then we can "click" on the options that we want? The Non-Bloggernots can email or phone in their request.
yes I am going to AC. I am planning on taking plenty of pictures for Ted's Blog I am running. Have you checked it out?
I agree we should go with the majority, but I think we could reach a majority with just the people on the blog. Let's face it, most reunions are planned by a few, and the rest of the class is notified of the when/ where. It is impossible to make everyone happy, so the fewer involved with the planning the easier it will be. I have said all along that a cocktail/appetizer party is the way to go.
As an example...I was looking at the Blue Monkey's menu: They can do appetizers for around $20/person. Open bar adds $15, or top shelf open bar adds $25. I have emailed them, and they told me they have a special menu for class reunions who don't want the sit down dinner. I am supposed to call, which I will do tomorrow. I am also going to make a few more calls to a few more venues.
count me in
Great to get everyone's input.
Mullen, thanks for doing the reservation thing. Agreed we need to act quickly, but I think we should stick to our original plan that we agreed upon to open the conversation to everyone and get input...much longer than one day's worth. We need to give others a chance to speak, not just the daily bloggers. From what I read, Labor Day may not be the best option.
So I suggest more time to discuss while Matt works on the polling thing (which we also previously discussed), and then majority rules from the poll.
Robb, we have essentially reached 52 people so far, but only 28 are on the blog. I have contact information for most on a spreadsheet, so I'll get that to you to help make phone calls to them. I think 52 is a good enough number to reach a reunion decision.
We also need help contacting the other 65 or so who we have not reached at all. About 20 are 'in progress'. Mary has volunteered to help make these calls, but we need more volunteers.
holy crap. what have you people been doing?
so, i don't care what the logistics are regarding big people, little people, indoor, outdoor blahblah.
what is the date now? october 7th?
me likey.
and kerstettler, how the heck are ya?
the blue monkey, is it the old kelly's 19th hole?
one of the last times i was home i stayed a night at the hotel where that jetport is – ghetto.
why is it when i want to blog, no one is ever around?
i have 30 minutes to kill at work.
bummer.
I'm here, I'm here!!!
girls, soooo good to be in touch. don't you have kids to tend to?
kim, what's your story?
Jude- if you don't want to stay at the Jetport....mi casa is su casa. You are welcome to stay at our house- you'd have your own room/bed. (Mary is that correct spanish there?) Or since Mary is closer to Catty- I'm sure you could stay at her house too.......right, Mare? LIke how I invite people to stay at your house?
Oct 7th lookin good!!!
Jude- I'm finally home from work. I was stuck on 78 tonight. Brutal backup.
Dave - I tried to log on to the site today, but couldn't get the page to come up. Give me the address again. I'll try again. A reason to chat on the phone......I'm in.
Are you saying that you don't think we were bright enough to figure that out? Mr "fancy picture link guy"?
Did you get my bio stuff?
in case anybody is confused - i changed the sidebar link (lets-talk-reunion) for this post so that it will always take you to the end of the post, last comment made. so you don't have to always scroll thru what is shaping up to be a very long list of comments.
thanks kim for the invite. my ma sold the house, and i'll most likely be coming with my boyfriend jeff, and a hotel shouldn't be a problem. we'll figure it out.
so where do you live now? and are you married, kids? mo cheeks? bobby jones? now ya make me feel bad (oh, that was dan)?
is the blue monkey kelly's 19th?
Jude - you are not staying at the Jetport for the reunion! My door is always open. Let me save you.
All - Just registering an opinion on the reunion thing. I would definitely support the cocktails and appetizer idea. Blue Monkey - fantastic! October - great! We need Julie Kollar to join our conversation. Robb didn't you say when you saw her she mentioned we had $$$$$$ or did she say we had an account? Last thought......golf would be great. A beer a hole! It's a good thing we can walk down the street to the Blue Monkey.
Jude-
I'm married (10 years), five year old little girl (meredith) and Mo Cheeks is still better than the best 6th man, Bobby Jones. "Now you make me feel bad"- sounds vaguely familiar.....Mary, any recollections?
Oh- and I am living in Lansdale....
I can hear the tone in the quote.....I'm thinking....I'm thinking........the pressure....Dan's coming to mind. Am I close?
Kim - post a picture of Meredith. I need to see those eyes!
yeah kim, post a pict of meredith.
now ya make me feel bad was a danny plu saying.
how about those seahawks?
is todd an owner or something. or just a regular?
is there ping pong? looooooove the ping pong.
kim - how're your folks?
Jude - Yes the 19th hole turned into the Dockside turned into the Blue Monkey - Thanks LongE
I sent an e-mail to the committee but I did find Julie Heckman. She is suppose to call me back later where I will supply her the blog address and such.
I'll try and make whatever you come up with but my fiance is in college and I'll have to try and work with his school schedule.
Vicki, if you can't come to the reunion I would still love to know when you are coming to town so I can try and come up to see you!!!
okay - gotta roll.
get the event settled out you guys.
Deanna, omg, how are you...if you happen to check the site again, here are my memories of you...Donny Osmond, purple, and your little brother eating chalk!!
Thanks for saying hi
Holy crap!!!!!!Deanna.
Glad to have you on board.
I use to have such a crush on you when we were in Sheckler......Wow...this a blast from the past. Great to hear from you.
I saw you had enough votes to make a decision- but I too vote for the Combo event. It will allow for some fun with Classmates and Family during the day, and then turn into a little drinking event -perhaps back at the Blue Monkey afterwards. That's cool, because my parents house is only a few blocks away -and I can stumble back from there. P.S. - No Pool crashing!!
Jeff P
Dave-I'm on board with the volunteer stuff.
Golf !!! Let's do it before the reunion, why wait? Who's in ?
Matt- Start a " who's golfing anyway" link.
Mare, Kim, Judy, Hello !
Mare- I e-mailed Julie again today. She said she will check in soon. When I saw her she said we had $ 2000 in the account.
Btw- Marty still play poker?? If he does, tell him I will include him in the next game.
Hey Robb - Hello!!!!!
Marty would love a good poker game. Heck, he would just love to play, it doesn't have to be good game. Will cigars be involved?
Sounds like we have a little money to start. Nice!
Jeff P, good to hear from you!
Randy, I'm in for golf, even though I haven't gotten out in years. Maybe I'll just be the beer-carrying golf cart driver.
Robb, thanks for volunteering. I've got others too so I'll get something out to the volunteers.
Poker? It might be cool for someone to host a poker/drinking night the Friday before whatever weekend is chosen. Any volunteers?
Excellent, count him in.
Should we use the $2000 for Poker ?
Dave- Great idea.
Mare- Cigars are mandatory !
Dave,
Did I read correctly - you're opening a running store in SC??
I suck at golf, but I'll get my money's worth -count me in. We can see if anyone can hit Greg Schuberts house....
Jeff
Jeff- I don't think I talked to you since we walked off CHS's property in 1986. Great to hear from you. Don't worry about your golf game, beacuse Dan will be there and his game really sucks.
Robb,
He always talked a tough game...no matter what the game. I think the last time we spoke was at our 5 year re-union. I missed the 10 yr., my sister got married that weekend (Who the F*C@ planned one on Thanksgiving weekend?!?). I think we were both pretty ripped, but I remember talking to you about your PC Business.
Jeff- I think you're right about both memories. This reunion should be a good one. Check in anytime you visit the LV.
Nothing wrong with the Jetport. Jude, or whoever is coming from out of town. We plan on getting a block of rooms for whoever needs them, at some area hotel. I live in the area, but will get one for myself. The party could go late....
sounds like everyone has been quite busy today. count me in for golf....poker sounds great (it's a tradition here with my kids...) and again, any help from here i can do....
deanna....wow, sounds like you are doing great! you spent most of you school days with us anyway, so just remain here....randy wasn't the only crush...how about frank reightler...
Jeff, that is true and if I ever post a longer bio, I'll talk about it...
People, you need to go to bed in the middle of the day so that when I get up in the middle of the night, I won't have so much catching up to do. 122 comments!?! WTF?!
I had a look at airlines last night and this morning, using labor day weekend as a reference for travel, and it's going to cost somewhere in the region of about $1800 for me, husband and 2 kids (well 1 kid, we don't pay for the baby). With a new baby and all the work we've done on our house this year, I'm afraid we're going to have to pass on the 20th reunion. It looks like you're going for October anyway, in which case we wouldn't be able to come due to my work schedule. I'm disappointed that I'll miss all of you, but pencil me in for the 25th reunion. Matt, you're going to keep the blog up and running, right? Now that you've created all these blogging monsters, you're not just going to walk away and leave us high and dry?!?!
What ever option or date is chosen, we'll be there. We don't have any definite plans for the summer or fall so we can make any date work. I'll try to call some more people tonight to get them on board.
I don't know how to edit a post so I will just add one. I never played a game of golf in my life unless you count mini golf, but I have just learned to play poker, so it should be a fun time
Vicki - this thing has a life of it's own, i don't think i could kill it if i wanted to.
deanna, is he a teacher, free chalk? ha ha...
Vicki, we will miss you at the reunion but keep on blogging and post pictures so we can keep in touch.
Deanna! I knew I called you for a reason!
and Deanna...tell your husband to get his ass down to Bar-Don some Tuesday night for a beer or two. SLACKER!
Hey....he stiffed us all year. Why don't both of you come. Leave the kids with the grandparents!
Tim - the last time we did that down at the river....Holenda took all of our names and made us dump the keg into the river.
Tell him Johnny will give the pinstripes .281 30RBI's in 88 games
randy--holenda's retired, i think youre safe now
120 runs scored in 88 games? Not likely.
Tell him to come to BD on Tuesday and argue in person.
yes Deanna.....post away!
Nope, that wasn't me. I was in Hellertown at noon.
Wow only one Saturday? Well....that's in the officer's court anyway. I assume we will get our rooms there.......
prefer saturday to friday during fall....longe, whats up with the blue monkey, anything? would probably be better for people coming from out of town also
longe, matt...are you still considering the picnic and adult night option? because if so, dont think friday would be good for obvious reasons...all this jetport talk seems mute if thats the case and they dont have saturdays?! also think sat just better for those coming from out of town/state..maybe more out of towners should comment on this..
thanks Deanna but i think somewhere along the line we moved the date to Oct 7th - but you'll need to get final word from the officers (Steve, Mary, Andrea, Kim) as they are handlng the event organization
Steve - how about a little about a little state o' the reUNION there preznit?
Being one of the out-of-towners, I really prefer a Saturday event because I'll be driving up there Friday and I won't want to go straight to the reunion.
I'm just one of many so I guess majority rules....
Kristen....the organization of the reunion has been passed off to the officers. I am in the same boat as you are now....
Hey Guys....why are we sliding an event that is part pic-nic (good weather season), followed by an evening event into the Fall? If Sept 2nd doesn't work, I'd think we should be looking the other way if we are sticking with the initial consensus format. (Summer vacation time for families with kids (especially for those out of state!!)
I understand upfront that we won't be able to accomodate everyone...but just a suggestion. I'm fairly local and will most likely stay at my parents, so I'm not self-motivated in this thinking! I'll be there no matter what...
Jeff
I was under the impresion that the idea is to get as many people as possible located and then send out a survey and take it from there. I also thought the date was leaning toward Oct. 7th and that should indeed work fine indoor or outdoors.
PSWay to many people vacationing over labor day.
Agreed MJ. Labor day is traditionally vacation time....long weekend in the mountains or at the beach.
Good Point longe - that also frees up my weekend for My Fantasy Football draft...what was I thinking!!
I think if the official reunion is on a Saturday night, then we can plan additional 'unofficial' events. Ideas suggested have been:
Friday night hangout, maybe hosted at someone's house, maybe some poker playing.
Saturday morning golf event.
Saturday picnic, probably around lunchtime to be able to bring the kids and meet the family. Probably bring your your own food, drink.
