Yorkshire from above

John took his dad on a vintage flight on Thursday (DC3 Dakota - apparently these planes carried paratroopers in WWII) and I thought I'd share with you some pictures of my adopted country from the air! In the second picture, you're looking at my neighborhood. The building and parking lot on the lower left is my local supermarket. On the other side of the big traffic circle in the middle of the picture is the center of Doncaster.

Vicki, I think I can see your house (I recognize it from all the pix you've shared) in the lower pic.

Kristen, I look at stuff all the time on Google Earth. A friend of mine just moved and when she sent me her new address, I google earthed it!

Steve, can you see me waving from the backyard?

Steve Freeman said...

Yeah, but what's up with the middle finger wave? And did you have to have the kids do it too?

Well, that's how the English say "Wish you were here" :-)

Welcome back Randy.

I've always wanted to give a gift like this to Rob, but it is currently out of my range. Great pictures....where is the arrow to your house?

Vicki- random comment, but what grocery store? Tesco?

Vicky said...

No, not Tesco (although I do my monthly online shop with them). That supermarket is Morrison's. I only shop there during absolute emergencies.

Sonya, my house isn't actually on the picture. :-/ It's just out of the frame on the lower left corner.

Vicki - I'm jealous of John....that looks way cool!

Is this near Duxford?? When I was there - a Spitfire did a "fly-by" on the runway and did a barrel roll. Of course -I tried to take a picture and my camera had run out of film on the previous shot -without me knowing it. Before I reloaded, it was gone!!

I wish digital cameras were more affordable in 97 when I was there! Better luck next time...but I enjoyed John's pics!

Jeff, if you liked those, I've got loads more!

We live about 90 minutes away from Duxford, so no, not nearby. But John's been to Duxford (with his dad of course!) and he loved it. I have a feeling when the boy is old enough to understand, he'll be making the journey to Duxford with John.
