National Treasure Book of Secrets

Well, this movie FINALLY opened over here! Saw it today and really liked it, but I have a nitpick. Sorry, but I'm really anal about films being accurate. Nicholas Cage and his crew visit Buckingham Palace in April. We know it's April because it says so on the screen at the start of the film. Buckingham Palace is only open to visitors in August, when the Queen is away in Scotland. Nicholas Cage even said it in the film when they were trying to break into the Queen's study.

Nick's Girlfriend: "What if the Queen is in there?"
Nick: "She won't be. The Royal Standard isn't flying, so she's at Windsor."

Well, she might be at Windsor, Nick (which, by the way, ISN'T in Scotland!), but you still wouldn't be visiting in April. I know, I know. It's only a movie.

Stupid Hollywood.

Stupid Hollywood is definitely redundant
As a teacher, you don't actually expect the writers/actors to research the material to keep it authentic, do you?

In hindsight, the other thing I realized is that the "code" they're supposed to break was written in 1865 on the day that Lincoln was assassinated, and it makes reference to the Statue of Liberty, which wasn't built until around 10 years later? Were they psychic, or what?

See, the real goal of the movie is for individuals like yourself to see all the flaws and use true history. History teachers can use it like a quiz. Not really, they (Hollywood) are just dumb.

The first movie was all messed up, too. Lots of mistakes about the Knights Templar and the Masons. But when I pointed them out, my sister said the same thing: "Its just a movie". Haven't seen the second one yet.
