Bueller? Bueller?

1986 was the year of Top Gun, The Karate Kid and Ferris Bueller. I love movies. I always have. I don't get to go to films so much these days with a baby in the house. When we do go to the movies, we go as a family and see films like Harry Potter, Over The Hedge, Disney stuff, and other family movies. I usually have to wait for anything rated higher than PG to come out on DVD before I get to see it.

Do you still go to the movies? What do you like to see? If you have kids, do you take them with you or do you get a sitter and see grown up movies?

By the way, the top ten grossing films of 1986 were:

  • Top Gun
  • Crocodile Dundee
  • Platoon
  • The Karate Kid (I still can't wax my car without saying wax on, wax off!)
  • Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
  • Back to School
  • Aliens
  • The Golden Child
  • Ruthless People
  • Ferris Bueller's Day Off
  • Hoosiers

Vicki,
I do get to go to the movies, but I always take my two boys (Trae and Liam). I am taking them to see Cars and Monster House. I will try to sneak out once and again to see an adult movie, but usually just wait for them to come on one DVD. My father-in-law has a huge selection, so I just borrow from him.

I could not tell you the last movie Trina and I saw alone. I can't remember back that far.

No, I can't remember the last time John and I went to the movies alone either. For some reason The Sixth Sense springs to mind - and that's a really long time ago!

You know, I think you and I are the only ones still blogging. Where the hell is everyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I get to movies on a regular basis, if not renting then going to see in the theater. I just went to see Da Vinci Code.....good movie and good read. Some of my top favorite movies over the years are
1. The Replacements
2. All of the Star Wars movies
3. Crimson Tide
4. National Treasure
5. Christmas Vacation (who doesn't like this movie???)

Just a few that come to mind.
Being in a house of all women I get "forced" to watch "chick flicks" It's torture but someone has to do it.

Good post Vicki....the blog is slowing again.....come on people keep this moving along.

I do get out to the movies sometimes with the kids sometimes with the hubby and sometimes I'll even go by myself. The bad part of going alone is there's noone to discuss the movie with. The worst was when I went to see Monster. Now that was some movie and I really had a lot to say about it but went alone. My hubby used to work 2nd shift so I would get mom to watch the kids and just go. Of course all my friends will say call me I'll go but of course when push comes to shove they are always busy. So I got tired of it and just go alone. There is nothing like seeing a movie on the big screen. Last adult movies I saw were Derailed which was excellent and Failure to Launch which was funny. Last kid movie was Over the Hedge. Next on the list is Pirates of the Carribean 2 and The Break Up.

I forgot we just saw Bench Warmers which was really that dumb kind of funny..........And Randy I think you really enjoy those chick flicks you don't need to blame it on living with women!!!!!

MJ - We also got to see Bench Warmers and liked it, then again I liked Napoleon Dynamite????

I DO NOT LIKE THOSE CHICK FLICKS!!!! (okay.....maybe just a little) I just had to make it sound good.

Randy, it's not Christmas in my house without Christmas Vacation!

MJ, I loved Monster. I was living in Florida at the time the whole thing happened, so I followed the story in the paper, and then when I saw the film it seemed to fill in all the little gaps in the story. I'll discuss that movie with you if you want! We're looking forward to Pirates of the Caribbean II also. John's dad is going to babysit Chris and the three of us are going to go see it.

Randy, you know you love the chick flicks! :-)

Vicki...good post! By the way...how's your little one doing? I laughed when I saw Ferris' photo. Just last night we were talking about movies and my husband said he never saw Ferris Bueller. I was like...HUH? How could you have been in high school in 1986 and not seen it? So now I'm threatening to make him watch it. We haven't been to a movie in over three years. We haven't taken my daughter yet. She'd be the annoying child running up and down the aisles and stealing people's popcorn. I wish they had drive-ins around here. Now that would be fun!

Vicki - same here with Christmas...it's just not Christmas without that movie.

Deanna - all I can say is "Lucky" and "You guys are retarded" of course in Napoleon's voice.

Vicki - It's horrible being forced to watch "chick flicks" against my will!!!!! Offer me some icecream during the movie and I'm there!!!!

I can't afford the price of movies so I don't go. The last movie I saw was "The Incredibles".

I visit the blog almost everyday but I never have much to say.

Since being divorced, I go to more movies. I just saw The Lake House, Break-Up and Failure to Launch. All were pretty good movies. For all of you who have teenagers I am sure you have seen High School Musical which is the 2006 version of our 1978 Grease. Some of my favorites are Pretty Woman, Random Hearts and Save the Last Dance and yes, they are all chick flicks!

Kristen didn't we see Grease like 6 times when it was in the theater? Movies were only $1 back then.
