Bueller? Bueller?

1986 was the year of Top Gun, The Karate Kid and Ferris Bueller. I love movies. I always have. I don't get to go to films so much these days with a baby in the house. When we do go to the movies, we go as a family and see films like Harry Potter, Over The Hedge, Disney stuff, and other family movies. I usually have to wait for anything rated higher than PG to come out on DVD before I get to see it.

Do you still go to the movies? What do you like to see? If you have kids, do you take them with you or do you get a sitter and see grown up movies?

By the way, the top ten grossing films of 1986 were:

  • Top Gun
  • Crocodile Dundee
  • Platoon
  • The Karate Kid (I still can't wax my car without saying wax on, wax off!)
  • Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
  • Back to School
  • Aliens
  • The Golden Child
  • Ruthless People
  • Ferris Bueller's Day Off
  • Hoosiers

Rain/Flooding

I went over the Race Street Bridge today (and had to detour up unto Poplar Street due to the Catty Creek flooding the road). This is wild, the Lehigh river looked like the Colorado river rapids, just muddy. It was way above the "Sandies" and my older son wanted to go fishing. Not to soon for that.

Here in the Lehigh Valley (for all of you not in the area right now) it is a muddy mess (I am taking a break from vacuuming my basement - when we get a lot of water, so do I).

I took a screen shot from the AccuWeather channel of the Delaware and some from P-burg NJ (on CNN).

Classmate Sighting!

On Sunday, I had to go to Giant food stores on Union Blvd. to get some Wochchestershire sause (for my famous hamburger soup), and I was walking down the condiment aisle when who did I see, Lena Azar.
She says she knows of the blog (from MJ Jones) and has unsuccessfully tried to get on board (and says she will try again). She is doing fine and says she wants to go to the reunion since she has NEVER been to one (though we only have had 2 and none in the last 10 years).
When she gets on board, I will let her tell her story. I just wanted everyone to know that she is aware and would like to get on. Matt, could you send her another invite? She seems to be having the same problems as everyone does at first.

Favorite Show(s)

Remember when no one would miss Cheers or Taxi or Happy Days?
Now all I have time for is House on Fox and reruns all summer.

What does everyone else watch on a weekly basis?

I rarely get to watch television during the school year (I AM a workaholic during school). I reserve my Tuesdays at 9:00 for House (or I record it and watch it later).

Other than sports (when I can), I don't watch much television.
I try to catch as many Flyers games as I can (I love the 7:00 starts since I am crashing by 10:00).

Carol Myers (Hahn)

'Hi everyone! Yes, I am finally posting a bio! What a ride it has been since graduation 20 years ago. After high school I worked full time for a while and then went back to college after 3 years, I went to LCCC for 2 years and got an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts. I was planning on going on to Seminary School after that for Youth Ministry, but never did. I met my first husband and we got married and were married for 8 years and it did not work out. My father died in 1999 and my mother moved away to Mass. to live with my brother. I was definitely not a good little girl in those 4 years and then met my new husband, David. We had a bouncing baby girl on January 8, 2005 and she is the light of my life. I never thought I would love being a Mommy so much. Her name is Karly Lynn and she is now 17 months old. I now live in Hellertown and work at Hartzell's Pharmacy in Catasauqua, as a Durable Medical Equipment Specialist. My life is finally on track now and I am loving the family that I do have. My mom moved back to Pennsylvania last year and is now engaged to be married in September of this year. As you see alot of changes. I would love to move back to Catasauqua, but my husband is insistent on staying in Hellertown. He is a member of Dewey Fire Company and he and I are also members of the Northampton County Fire Police. My life may not sound to exciting compared to many others of you, but I am quite content. I love to go out dancing and sing karaoke, when we actually get a babysitter. I also sing with a band called, Uncle Smiley, when I do get that chance to go out.
I am really looking forward to seeing you all at the reunion in October. I can't believe it has been that long already. Take care and I hope all is well with the rest of the class.

For you Steelers fans...

Graduation 2006

As I sit here reading about Stroudsburg High School's Class of 2006 graduation, I thought back to our graduation at Alumni Field in 1986. I taught many of the students that graduated on Saturday, and only 20 years ago, I graduated from the great Catasauqua High School.
I thought back to all the fun we had while in the halls of CHS and how 20 years can go so freakin' fast. I miss the times of hangin' out at the playground. I miss Lew's basement gatherings. I went over the Race Street bridge and noticed that Caty
Bev is moving into the space that was Nikki Hoi's back then. I miss the "old" days and all the fun times we had. I hope that at the reunion, we can relive the "GOOD" ole times, and not bring up all the "bad" stuff. I am sure this post will start some people's juices and more "bad" will be remembered than good. Anyway, let's get this back to the happenin' spot it once was.

Sorry about the sad News

With all the happy baby talk, i hate to post this, but thought it important. I'm sure many of you remember the Linton family. From the class of 1984, Debbie Linton, passed away yesterday. Some type of cancer, not sure exactly what. I will get more information, hopefully, if her obituary is in the Morning Call, and update everyone soon. This world has lost a very special person!
