You guys are too funny.

Jude, I think I will echo Steve's sentiments. They are very blue. May I ask where you got them? I can honestly say we do not carry that shoe, which means...(ok, dave say it nicely)...they be on the 'inexpensive' side, not made as well, less cushioning, won't last as long.

Hard to judge a photo..can't do our standard process - a gait and foot analysis on a treadmil, look at an old pair to see where you have the most wear, discuss past foot problems, discuss past or future walking/jogging. What you have is a cushion only shoe, no stability built in which you would need if you have any kind of foot problems.

jude, interesting enough, i did a google search of 'air vomero' and got one hit. tried 'nike vomero' and got 8 hits. then i did "nike pegasus", one of our lower end shoes, and got 44,700 hits. don't think i need to say more than that.

Busting on you a little, but i know you can take it.

Didn't notice the sneaker. Couldn't get my eyes off that bare ankle........

dave - they were $110 plus some change for my insoles.

i gottem at a small mom and pop sneaker shop (super jock and jill). the guys assessed my gait and made me run outside a bunch of times in various shoes. these, he said, are a brand new style. and my friend who owns a small shop in nj said that nike has some ugly shoes this season.

anyway, i appreciate you $.02.

todd - let's see your gams, eh?

vomero, no 's', have found more info. do not know this one. good to hear you got checked out at a running store. moving into any good shoe is a good thing to do.

If you do not have foot problems, then a cushion shoe would be ok. But as you mention insoles, assuming you meant inserts, I'm concerned that you are using inserts in a cushion shoe. If your foot issues are minimal, I would've moved to a stability shoe and no inserts. Inserts sometimes cause more problems than they're worth. And if you're thinking of starting a running program, it's best to not change too many things at once. ie, new shoes, inserts, diet, etc.

Inserts can sometimes be ok but store bought inserts, whether at an Eckerds or running store, have a tendency to break down fast. My wife Cathy (podiatrist) will recommend store bought inserts only as an initial and inexpensive option if someone can't afford custom-molded orthotics done by a podiatrist (about $350 pair), and only for people with serious foot issues. They are custom fitted and made from much better material and will last years.

Anyway, you should try them for a few days and see how they feel. Most stores will allow a store exchange if you return them in 'resellable' condition. They should last about 4-500 miles before the cushioning starts breaking down.

Hope this isn't too much info.

jude, ask matt to post the picture of longe from our personal blog. it shows a lot more than his gams (unless gams can have more than one meaning.)

are you saying buying sneakers out of the bargain bin at Payless isn't the proper way to go? I always wondered where my limp came from....

PERSONAL BLOG??? Oh, now THIS sounds very interesting!

Cat's out of the bag! ;-)

dave - does the longe photo show a singular gam? how curious.

re: shoes: the shoes i got are yes, just the cushion shoe. i don't have feet problems that i'm aware of, but the knees are the real bitch, which is why i stopped running in the first place. i'm training for a triathlon (running2-3x/week right now) and don't want to f*ck up my knees any worse. the store where i went is pretty hardcore and i feel that i was steered in the right direction. they even have free pt's every thurs. that rotate from different practices. i think that i should get a job with weiden + kennedy http://www.wk.com/ and design some respectable looking shoes.

Jude - you should hit the trails, Cat says it is a lot less hard on her knees/feet plus the sneaks are much cooler
