Let the Music Play

Music entertainment seems to be creating some "talk". I am for all the involvment of as many of "us" as "possible" (I think I am getting crazy with the "quotes" so I will stop now).
Seriously, since so many people have mentioned the possibility of creating a mix that we will play ourselves, I need Lew or Robb to let me know if they are comfortable contacting Gary or if they want me to do that. I am not trying to squash anyone's involvement, but Gary may become confused if more people start contacting him on the same event. It may be simpler to let the officers be the intermediates on this one.
Gary told the three of us at the meeting that he has a DJ that also does karaoke, but I am feeling the idea of us creating our own mix of music that everyone has a part in creating. The sooner Lew lets me know about contacting Gary about the use of their system, the sooner we can move on with this or go back to our original DJ plan.
Input is welcome and expected (as always)

MJ - great job on the list. Some of these songs I don't remember by title. Some are definitely bringing back some memories. Some I care to remember and some I don't.

After seeing Maryjo's 86 only list, we definitely need to expand to at least an all 80's selection. Some may even prefer mixing in other eras/music-types.

Lew, can you devise a system to hook into a golf bag? We could do the Rodney Dangerfield-Caddyshack thing on the course.

Just seeing a list of 80's songs is bringing back memories. Great job with the list MJ!!

MJ: "Fussy" is one word for it.

mathbach said...

i'd like to hear Dave's word for it.

pauko27 said...

Ha, Matt! In past discussions, I wanted all 80's, but you were the one who told me you didn't want to hear just 80's music. I was just avoiding saying your name.

randyg said...

MJ researched all these songs while driving her bus using a lap top. Those kids will never be the same again.

mathbach said...

nice deflection Dave. i don't think Mj's observation was isolated to your comments about music. yes, i think all 80's could get a bit boring after a while but as long as i don't have to do anything with the tunes, i'm happy with whatever gets played, no complaints from me.

Nu Shoes "I can't wait". Immediately reminds me of the Maingate on Sunday nights....

All these music buffs, I thought I'd see some requests for the Dead Kennedys or Buzzcocks.
Rusty wants Pet Shop Boys, WTF?

Steve Freeman said...

Hey Rusty, here are your Pet Shop Boys

mathbach said...

you know Lew will pull out that CD he had on in Reading - problem is that with a few drinks in us there will be the inevitble slam dancing which will be sad on so many levels.

Steve Freeman said...

Lew,
I emailed Gary and am awaiting his response on usage of the system.

Sonya, if you check these comments, I also asked about your White Zinfandel.

When I get a response, so too will you two.

Randy......since you are so amused by my job I thought I"ld tell you they are hiring. Maybe you could work it into your schedule since your often in the area anyway. I will put in a good word for you and I won't mention anything about Tequila or DoSequis (SP) and I'll be sure to requst a tart cart for you.

randyg said...

MJ - after 18 years of inspecting and dealing with pain in the ass contractors.....it might be a step in the right direction. Just like the movie "American Beauty" Kevin Spacey says "I want a job with the least amount of responsibilities"

By the way...I'm only picking on you just like the good old days. Only then your dad use to chase me home.

mj jones said...

don't worry Randy I can dish it out and take it. Your posts make me laugh. I'm looking forward to seeing you at the reunion and I'll save some stories for your wife. Maybe Dave can call and see if we can get DosEquis on tap for us Mexican lovers.

mathbach said...

yo DjWalkman no prob, let me know if you need either of those on vinyl.

andrea said...

hey maryjo.....i'm good with the mexican beers....count me in! as for music....billy ocean....now that has been a while! ha!

MJ - You mean you are going to tell her all those "good" stories right???? She already knows she has trouble on her hands.

mj jones said...

actually Randy I can't think of a one bad story to tell her..all good but I'll keep thinking the problem is I burned quite a few braincells in HS.

Matt - Vinyl is DEAD (as in Kennedy's)

A mix of songs would be good...1/2 of the '86 list is from after graduation. I like the idea of an 80's mix. My votes are:
1. The Ramones - I wanna be Sedated
2. The Vapors - Turning Japanese
