Catty Dips

Anyone have winter pictures? My wife and I took Ryan to the Three Dips Sunday afternoon. Talk about blasts from the past! Haven't been there in years. Probably since Rusty got a concussion! He won't remember! I thought my wife was going to have a nervous breakdown everytime Ryan went down the hill. Here are a few pix including his brushburn on his face. Take notice to the picture of "OLD CATTY HIGH" in the backround of the second picture!

Even after the brushburn he want's to go back tomorrow!

On Sunday, I took Trae (8) and Liam (4) to Nitschmann middle school (in Bethlehem, right off 248, by the new Lowes) to do some hill conquering. We had fun, but it was really windy and Liam got some road rash too. He rolled off the sled (as his big brother was doing near the end of each run) and gave himself a black eye. The snow was really hard and my buttocks can attest to that. Sorry, no pix though.

Rock - Just don't teach him how to ride a BMX bike down the dips. So many attempted it but few came away successful.

We have an awesome sledding hill right here at home. Tha back acre of our property drops off and its great. The only problem is this time it's all ice and when my daughter went down she couldn't stop herself and hit a giant rock. We spent the night in the ER where she got 11 stitches in her chin. OUCH!!!! I can't believe how much it bled, she was so good no tears or fussing at all. Thankfully it is on the underside so you won't see the scar.

great pics Rock!
friday night we went to a local park with a small hill, which given the conditions worked out well. that small hill generated enough speed to send the girls off into the darkness laughing their little heads off. despite Bella hitting a tree and Liv's face catching my boot, they came away with only minor injuries.

Rocky, did you go down the hill?
Yesterday I had the kids at blue mountain tubing park. Next on their list , snowboarding !!! I live 2 minutes from Blue Mountain so I can't talk them out of it !!! Maybe I will post pictures from the ER. Last year, I almost broke a leg !!! Stay posted.

yeah funny story I know exactly how he feels only we did end up in the ER.....the MIller hill is officially shut down due to extreme conditions....maybe when they are a little older they can handle it.

Every time it snows I think of the 3 dips. Haven't taken Shuli there yet...I'm not ready for her to take the hits I did though each one was worth it! We have a nice hill on the front of our house and it was a big appeal to me for the buy. Shuli has a blast 'snowboarding' down it.
MJ-How's your daughter doing? I cringed when I read that she got 11 stitches. Did Mom need a drink after the ER visit?
Andrea-You're cruel! Pina coladas are my fave and being pregnant I can't have one. Have one for me! Make that three!!

Terrie this was my third trip to the ER w/ my kids so I was pretty calm. My husband is another story he gets pretty worked up....anyway Lindsey is doing great.

Rock, thanks for sharing the pictures. They bring back such memories! Sledding down the Three Dips was the best. We have told our boys about the three dips, but we haven't been home when there was snow on the ground. We have a great sledding hill by our house called Bomberger Hill. When it gets a little icy it is hard to stop and sometimes you end up sliding under a parked tractor trailer at the bottom. I also know what it is like to spend some time in the ER after a sledding accident. My middle son, Brenden, broke his collar bone two years ago when we were at a friends cabin in boony land. We first had to get him off the mountain, which was a little way from the cabin, then we had to drive about 30 minutes to get to the Coudersport Hospital. It was a little hospital and I am glad there was nothing seriously wrong with him, because I don't know how they would have handled it. Believe it or not, even though we have 3 boys, that was our first trip to the ER and first broken bone. No one has even had stitches yet and that is fine with me.

Matt, you might know about Bomberger Hill. It is behind the Bomberger's store in Lititz. You can get to it either by going to the back of the store parking lot or off Newport Rd. It is kind of dangerous, but it is fun and my kids love it.

Don't forget to tell them Rock when you also beaned Rusty with an ice ball(snowball with ice)in the mouth and gave Rusty a few stitches in the lowr lip.

You should have broken the kid in with a piece of paneling or garbage bag..:)

Next year, teach him how to pull the rudder out of a Flexible Flyer and spin them out.

The best was watching Rusty's Dad hit the dips in a metal saucer, never touched the last dip and when he crashed....oooohhh That ended his sledding days.

On a summer side note on the dips, I remember watching Robb's brother do a hil climb up them with his 4x4
with 38" tires and make it up. I think Pat MaGlauglin(sic)did it.

kristen, now would be a good time for you to visit....don't you want to plan a "girls" weekend away?

unfortunately i've had plenty of er visits. i think my youngest (kassidy 10) has been the only child that hasn't been to the er for stitches!!

Mike the hills were definately too rough for paneling or garbage bags. The kids definately moved up a notch though! We used to wax our sleds, now I saw an empty can of spray corn oil laying at the bottom. Unless they now huff corn oil?? Who knows these days?
