Peter Pan peanut butter recall.

You've heard about it. Now check your shelves. Peter Pan peanut butter recall due to salmonella. Don't overlook it. We've got 2 canisters with the "2111" on the lid, and one of them has already been opened. Ugh.

Lucky for me, my picky son on eats Jif. How long has the jar been opened? I only ask this because if they have not yet had any symptoms (AND it has been open for a long time) , you are probably safe (don't eat anymore).
Matt, I recall you used to eat alot of peanut butter toast as a kid, still doing that?
I haven't had peanut butter in a long time (must be getting old). Now I have a craving for a peanut butter and jelly sammich and a huge, ice-cold glass of milk.

Steve - you gotta eat the natural stuff, the stuff that when you buy it there is a layer of oil at the top. You have to put it in the fridge after you open it and mix it. It is so much better for you than the other stuff.

Steve - yes, still a PB feind, as are my daughters. Randy is right - go natural, a few years ago i switched to Crazy Richard's pb. it' all natural, nothing but peanuts. now, when i taste those major brands they just taste like salt to me.

so many food illnesses to be worried about these days, whether buying in the store or going to a restaurant, what the heck is wrong these days?! we like the Reese's brand of peanut butter..have you ever made your own from scratch?

making things from scratch is for people w/o little kids.

Steve - the Wegmans brand natural PB is really good.

Matt - you ever try slugging down that top layer of oil just by itself? "Kids....don't try this at home"

We've switched to a lot of natural stuff. Randy, please tell me you haven't drank that oil! I really miss Wegman's!

Jamie - I never actually attempted this but it has crossed my mind when opening a new jar. It looks really nasty. We live right near a Wegmans and love their brand items. People think that Wegmans is expensive but it actually is no different than Giant, Weis, etc. They do carry some higher priced items if you are looking for something specific.

Randy next time we get together i'll bring a couple fresh jars, mix that oil with some tequila and we'll see how it flows.

Matt - Lets make it more interesting......add in a raw egg. Anybody else up for the challenge?

Cheers!

Thanks for the post! We had the bad lot number. My wife was sick a few weeks ago, so she thinks it was the peanut butter from the sandwich I made her for dinner:)
