Any other video game players out there? I don't currently own the Playstation 3, but will eventually waste my money on it. It is just a matter of time. I know I can get one, it is just a matter of when I fork over the money.
I am a gamer from way back when. I remember going to the LV mall with Robb and wasting hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars on Space Invaders, Defender, and other video games. Space Port was a place we frequented whenever we went to the mall (when we weren't hanging on the ramp, I really miss that ramp).
I've owned nearly every video console that has come out (not the XBox though - just never got into it - PS2 is my primary gaming console right now).
I play countless games online and currently own over 60 games, my favorite being Madden '07.
I waste too many hours with a controller in my hand, and was wondering what (if any) classmates also are "gamers". I even play my students (day before Christmas and Thanksgiving I take in my PS2 and others bring theirs and we play in my classroom - I know, what a waste of taxpayers' money). I usually get the "smack down" from them, but I learn a lot. Anybody out there play? If so, post the system and your favorite games.
PS - Kristen, I too remember when Space World opened (and I can't believe it is still Pies on Pizza), and also remember playing in Angelo's back room (Burger Time, Pinball) after dances at St. Paul's.

I am not a gamer, but do have the same fond memories as you when it comes to the mall. I still can't believe they got rid of the ramp and my favorite game at Space Port was the driving one - I can't see to remember it's name.
Steve - I only have the original Atari games from middle school. I still haven't mastered those to move onto bigger and better. LOL. We got a PS2 for X-mas for my daughter. She loves the Dance Dance Revolution game. Uh...Yeah....that aint working out so well for me. I would like to get some sports games but haven't got around to it. What's the difference between the PS2 & PS3?
Randy, the difference between the PS2 and PS3 is $470 dollars (just to get the system). PS3 games graphics are beyond anything we've ever seen, but it is still $470 difference.
we have ps2, & still have brads old nintendo...the boys of course have their gameboys......my favorites are galaga and tetris, i cannot master the ps2 controllers, i'd rather have a joystick (and I dont mean Brad's, get your heads out of the gutter)
i can remember when the current pie's on space was Hartzells!!..steve, why cant you believe it's still pies on...he does one hell of a business! we almost never go anywhere else for pizza and steaks!
I remember playing Donkey Kong at the J's on 4th? St.
After my Intellivision years, no more games. Tried Half Life once, it never stuck. Now all my extra time is spent on online poker.
Dave, I remember watching John Kelly play Space Invaders at J's and watching Donald Benjamin play Defender at the mall. They were both masters of their craft.
I also remember playing Zaxxon, Ms. Pac Man, and Track & Field at the Race Street Wawa. Good times, Good times!
like Randy i never advanced beyond Atari. my personality is too addictive, any game in the house would be a bad thing.
Game addiction is not a BAD thing. I really enjoy the escape from reality (the job, not the life). I use games as a break from the grading and note typing and grading (yes, I said grading twice - it seems that I always have a pile of stuff to grade, and when that pile is gone, another shows up - kinda like laundry).
dave, it was j's on 2nd st....it has been many things since j's closed, the only remaining j's around here now (i believe) is main st in northampton...do you remember sal sporacelli (?) he owned an eating joint there at one point...it is now a laundromat
I have a PS2 For the kids....and me. We even have gaming chairs!
Stevo- I sure do rememember the trips to spacePort. Barry probably spent hundreds of dollars on gas getting us there. We should probably repay him some how to clear our conscience. What was the name of the jousting game? My favorite is still the dome hockey game. Back then the games were only 25 cents, now I see some are a buck.
Matt - you are 100% right. My nephews let me borrow their PS1 game several years ago along with a helicopter attack game. Before I knew it two weeks of my life passed by. This is why I am holding off on getting any games for the new PS2.
Robb, the Jousting game was called . . . . Joust.
Randy, what's two weeks in the whole scheme of things? By the age of 40, you have lived for over 2080 weeks, that is just .096%, miniscule in the big picture.
I say to all of you that have not embraced the PS2 to do just that. What else do we have to do with all the free time in our lives?
what free time?
Hey, if you can blog, you can play.
Joust? Are you sure? How many hours did we play that ???
I'm not a gamer. John and Georgia are, and I'm sure when Chris is able to hold the controls, he'll be gaming too. We have a PS2. Don't ask me what they play. I'm part of the Ms. Pacman generation.
I bet the guy at Pie's On misses us, because I think we ate there for 5 out of the 6 days we were in Catty.
I remember going to the arcade with Robb and playing bubble hockey for hours, Frogger, and can't recalll the game, two joysticks and had to move a guy with suction cup hands, and that cartoon Midevil game, had to make correct moves.
I have PS2, Still have Madden 02'(Faulk on cover), WPT and just picked up a Civil War game
anyone ever been to Disney Quest in downtown Disney? They have a whole floor dedicated to all of the mentioned games. When we were there I got to play them and it brought back some good memories.
You all know that you can download most of those games (or if you have PS2, you can by a Midway or Atari game that has several games on it). I have the Midway Arcade Treasures game and it has Defender I and II, Joust (Robb, you'd love that one), Paperboy, Spyhunter, Rampage, Crystal Castles, Marble Madness, Gauntlet. I also have the Namco Museum game which has Pacman, Ms Pacman, Dig Dug, Pole Position, Galaga, Galaxian, and others.
I tried, about 9yrs ago i got a ps1, bought a few games. I played it for a month or two and put it away and never touched it again. I still have the ps1 and the same games to this day.
Too many buttons! IE.-JUMPING- hold the L1 button while pushing the R2 button twice, while moving the joy stick back, while pushing the direction arrow side to side, then hold the R1 and R2 buttons together then push jump!!! I'm a 1 button guy.
Favorite arcade game was a football game,(Touchdown??)it was a table top game of X'S and O's where you stood across from your opponent and moved the X'S with a mouse ball. I havent seen one in years.
I have to admit that I can't play any of those games. I remember playing Space Invaders or Ms. PacMan as a kid. My daughter has a GameCube and she is into all of those games. You guys are all bringing back alot of memories especially with the mall and Angelo's Pizza.
Anybody remember what a large pie cost at Angelo's? Was it $5.00?
MJ- I've never been to Downtown Disney & never knew they had all those games! Is it like a huge arcade? Now I really need to get to Disney again! :)
Disney Quest is a pay one price giant arcade. It is usually included in the premium ticket package for Disney, you know the one that includes the water parks. Anyway it is 5 levels of video games. 1 for sports, 1 for currant games, 1 for the games from our era, 1 for reality/interactive games and the other floor has a resteraunt and some games. It is awesome and a must stop if you have time while in Fl.
steve, what is the "labels" thing supposed to do? i click on it and it just gives me the post on a page by itself?
Kristen, once we have more of the same label, it will allow us to catalog and be able to see posts that have common links.
