Kris Allen Wins American Idol

Did anyone else watch the Finale? I thought the show was incredible!!! I really liked the duets - the show really paired the contestants up nicely with artists that played to their strengths. I LOVED how Kara came and showed up Bikini girl - I almost peed myself laughing so hard.

That was a great Finale - I usually am bored out of my mind with them. I am so ecstatic that Kris won!!! His face when they announced his name was priceless - he really thought he wasn't going to win. Amazing season!!

American Idol - Finale

I only watched half the show again, but I would have to say that Chris is the much better singer. I voted like crazy for an hour but didn't get through very often. I hope to gosh that Chris wins because I can't stand the idea of Adam winning. Oh well, have to wait and see the results show tonight.

American Idol Top 3 - Biggest Loser

I only watched the first 3 performances of American Idol last night and determined that I really didn't like anyone and switched to Biggest Loser finale. I did vote for Danny and Chris since I hate Adam and don't want him in the finale. At this point, I have no idea who will be in the finale - have to watch and see tonight.

I was suprised that so many of the contestants were still somewhat heavy on Biggest Loser. Past seasons that I have seen, all were very skinny at the finale. The final 3 looked great!!! I was happy to see Jerry (age 64) win the $100,000 prize. I believe there was something wrong with the scale when Helen got on because I find it very hard to believe she now weighs 117 pounds. I really wanted Tara to win, but oh well, she does look fantastic.

Anyone else watch either of these shows?

American Idol - Top 4

I really didn't like the show last night. The only person I kinda liked was Chris with his version of the Beatles "Come Together". Danny is definitely not a rocker and picked a song way too big for him. Oh well. Based on last night's performance I would say Danny would be going home, but I think his fans (including me) voted to keep him on the show. I am not going to let one bad performance prevent him from going to the finals. Hopefully everyone else felt the same way and voted.

Have to wait and see......

Look What I Got

Of course, mine has 86 on it. Guess it was my trip home a few weeks ago that made me feel nostalgic. I ordered it then and couldn't wait until it arrived.

I came downstairs this morning all excited, but my family wasn't overly impressed.

What do they know...Tom grew up in the Scranton area, Ida was born in Florida, and John was born in Virginia.

So I thought I'd share it with some other Catasauqua graduates.

Knot Ugly Shrug

In my never-ending quest to become Laura Ingalls Wilder, I started crocheting. Again. I used to crochet, believe it or not. Yes, you've known me for almost 40 years and you didn't know that I crochet. A lady can't reveal all her secrets.

My Aunt Ree taught me to crochet when I was a little girl and it was something that I did on and off. Then I put my hook down and didn't touch it again for about 15 years. Recently, I've learned to knit. It's a skill I really wanted to learn, and I set myself the challenge of learning a new skill every month in 2009. I quickly realized something. I.hate.knitting. I'm sorry, but I do. I can't deal with two needles, it seems like you knit and knit and knit and don't really get anywhere. There's too much counting. Don't even get me started on dropped stitches. But during the course of my skill-a-month challenge, I came to the conclusion that I was ready to pick up my crochet hook again. So I dug out my hook, looked through my stash of yarns, leafed through my favourite book on crochet, and came up with this. The Knot Ugly Shrug. I wore it to work today with the dress in the picture, a pair of cream-coloured Mary Janes from Office and a long string of pearls. I got loads of compliments, and someone said I looked like I was off to have tea with the Queen. I did feel a bit special!

Don't Let The Blog Die!

I was thinking this morning that we all need to start blogging again. Yes, Facebook is fun, but it's not the blog. Come back everyone!

American Idol - 1st top 12

I was disappointed with last night. So many of the singers picked bad songs and the one person I did not want to see go past the first round, picked a good song and may advance....

The only real shining singer was the last one, Danny. He has been one of my favorites through all the previous shows and I am glad he did well last night. I also like Anoop but we will have to wait and see what happens tonight.

I CANNOT stand Tatiana, but she did sing well last night. She was being so fake last night and I am glad the judges called her out on it. I really don't want her to advance, but I am afraid she will. I was really disappointed with the ladies last night!! What did you think of Jackie's (1st singer) outfit???? Did she look at herself before she went on the stage?

What do others think?

Top 36 - American Idol

Well, let the season of American Idol begin!!! I was suprised about some of the people they cut last night as well as some of the people they put in the top 36. I can not stand that girl who feels she must be the constant center of attention. I am so upset that I have to see her again next week - hopefully America is smart and does not let her go any farther in the competition.

I'm not sure how things are going to work this year. From what I understand, there will be 3 groups of 12 and only the top 3 from each group advance. I guess that would make sense since it will take 3 weeks to get through the top 36 and that would leave us with a final group of 12 when the weekly voting takes place.

Looking forward to next week - just wish it was on a little earlier....

American Idol

So, Hollywood week started last night. Did anyone besides me watch it last night? I am impressed by some of the singers this year - although I don't recall any names yet. What do others think?

I Left the Pump So Proud of Myself!

Have you ever heard of something so ridiculous these days. I just filled my tank for under $10...$9.17 to be exact. Ok, so it was only 3/4, but still...With all the bonus points I accumulated on my Giant card from Christmas shopping, I spent $.69 per gallon today. I couldn't contain myself when the pump shut off. People probably wondered what I was chuckling at!

Real New Year's Resolutions

Are you sick of making the same resolutions year after year that you never keep? Why not promise to do something you can actually accomplish? Here are some resolutions that you can use as a starting point:

1. I want to gain weight. Put on at least 30 pounds. 2. Stop exercising. Waste of time. 3. Read less. 4. Watch more TV. I've been missing some good stuff. 5. Procrastinate more. 6. Drink. Drink some more. 7. Take up a new habit: smoking. 8. Spend at least $1000 a month on Ladies of the Night. 9. Spend more time at work. 10. Take a vacation to someplace important: like to see the largest ball of twine. 11. Stop bringing lunch from home: I should eat out more. 12. Quit giving money & time to charity. 14. Start being superstitious. 15. Have my car lowered and invest in a really loud stereo system. Get the windows tinted. Buy some fur for the dash. 16. Speak in a monotone voice and only use monosyllabic words. 17. Only wear jeans that are 2 sizes too small and use a chain or rope for a belt. Only wear white T-shirts with those fashionable yellow stains under the arms. 18. Personal goal: bring back disco.

Merry New Year!
