From Man to Zone - Austin arrives

Allright, I've been "blurking" for the last 12 months or so without a New post -so I'm overdue here. Speaking of overdue, some of you were in my ear at the Reunion about having a 3rd child (You know who you are - no names (Carol & Stacy!!)). So let's just say that Kristen was dead on with her prediction and that Penny won this one and delivered our 3rd child, Austin Scott Perdick on August 14th at 4:28 PM. He weighed in at 8.37 oz's and 20 1/2 inches long at 2 weeks early! And no, I'm not becoming a PSU fan, Austin is just Penny's dads middle name, combined with my middle name (not named after the ex-PSU Running back). Here is a picture of the little guy, along with Big Sister Mariska and Big brother Peyton. He has blolnde hair and blue eyes, just like the other two. We are now learning to play a zone defense after being spoiled with a man to man.....life may never be the same as I near that dreaded 40. I take solace in knowing that I'm not alone here (Pauko).
P.S. -I'm only having 3 to help make up for the lack of grandchildren that my Brother is producing (that we know of.....).

Congratulations to you and your family on the arrival of Austin! Don't worry about being 40 and having babies. My husband was 42 when our son was born. Keeps you young dude!

Congratulations Perdick. Enjoy the diapers, the sleepless nights, the questions about the Browns free agent. No really, enjoy this and you'll only be 62 when he graduates college.

Congratulations Jeff! And who cares how old you are. 40 is just a number!

i get real depressed when i think of how old i'll be when trisha graduates high school, let alone college (thanks steve) but now i feel a little better knowing that my classmates are crazier than me actually planning to have babies at 40! i guess it wasnt you jeff (i think it might have been chuck) that i discouraged from having another..or was it you? my 3rd one is a hellion...doesnt help having 2 older brothers and 5 older boy cousins! she knows way more than she should and is absolutely fearless...bring on the heart attack

anyway...good luck jeff, going from one to two is cake...2 to 3 is an entirely different ball game!

He is beautiful!! Makes me want another. I had Brian just before turning 40, Michael was 43. It has not been as bad as people were warning me, going from two to three. Brian is a very good baby and very laid back. Just take a deep breath and enjoy it. And Kristen, my daughter is a handful, too. Maybe it is just something with little girls.

Jeff, congratulations to you and Penny! He is beautiful! Big brother and sister look very proud of their new brother. Three is a great number-it keeps things interesting. Hope all is going well and you are able to get some sleep at night.

Thanks everyone -I'm excited to have a new addition and the kids are estatic too. I hear ya on the age...it's just a number (I think 40 is the new 20!).

There must be something with young Girls...how do they become so high mtce at such a young age?? Boys are so much easier (as exemplified in Matt's response!). Keeping my daughter from dressing him, trying to put on make-up etc is very challenging! She thinks he's a new play toy!

Freeman -Have your Honors students see if they can develop a new type of diaper....let's say one that only needs to be changed once a day!! Give them an A if they can do it, and more importantly....send me some!!

I'm glad to say that Austin appears to be the most laid back of the 3, so hopefully the "zone" transition won't be too painful.

Congratulations!!! You have a beautiful family. I wouldn't know about having 2 or 3 children...I have one and she is walking attitude and that is plenty for me. You should be thankful because you have been truly blessed with such beautiful and healthy children.

Congrats Jeff. Your other kids seem to be very happy about their new brother. We are lucky in that respect, too. However, don't listen to Tracy, you are going to get a work out like you've never had before. Good luck.

I hear you Pauko....I'm already feeling it! Congrats to you too.

Mariska really has been a big help -both with the baby and with chores around the house (It's amazing how you can bribe your children with Webkinz!!). Now I just need to get another PC so I can actually use mine. 5 years old seems like 15 to me....I just can't wait for the new one to get out of diapers.

webkins are the ultimate reward and punishment....promise a new one or computer time for a bribe, take away animals and accessories for punishment....had to use that one on a temper tantrum this morning.

kristen said...

we are not into the webkinz craze thankg goodness, i couldnt tell you anything about them even...

jeff..i had to laugh at your 5 seems like 15 comment...trisha was 4 in april & you'd swear she was 14

Tracy,

My wife does that all the time...whenever I see them on the top shelf or our closet, I know they are being held "hostage" and that it was a rough day in the house. Those are the days I'm glad to be at work! It really does work -we get an angel, at least until the end of the promised hostage release.

Kristen,

Be happy it hasn't started...using your PC becomes a hassle. On the positive side, she totally knows how to start the PC, Log on (She knows her User ID & Password and she can move that mouse and navigate around. They seem to just grow up too fast -I don't recall doing this kind of stuff at age 4/5!

The really bad thing about the webkins is that my daughter has learned to "shop". She buys clothes and furniture for her webkins' rooms and redecorates constantly. She doesn't have any concept of the money part of it, spending all her webcash in a heartbeat. Then her brother or I have to go on and win her more money so she can feed them. I use the webkins hostage thing often. Best way to get the playroom cleaned up or fighting to stop.

We have the same thing with the Shopping...the other day Mariska spun "the wheel" and won $100. Two minutes later she's telling me she has no money. I asked her what happened to it and she said "I bought stuff" -and went on to list everything she bought. I was laughing to myself so hard it hurt -and I told her well no wonder you don't have any money -you spent it!! Next time maybe you should save some.

oh, she uses the computer, just not for webkins
