I read a lot of the paper and have to say that those involved in the paper do a great job. It is put together so professionally (this is coming from a guy who tries to read the printed paper our school puts out). There is NO comparison between the Brown and White and the paper that they push out up in the 'Burg.
I will read it more often because the pix and articles show that there are still schools out there that have a community feel.

Steve, that's one thing I hate, hate, hate about British schools. There is NO sense of community. There is no school spirit. Football (soccer) matches are held mid-week at around 3:30 in the afternoon, so no one from the community can come watch them. My school's rugby team just won the local championship - THE CHAMPIONSHIP! - and we heard about it the day after it happened. My first year as a teacher I was invited to "Year 11 presentation evening" - which is supposed to be like graduation for the Year 11 class (seniors) who are leaving. There's no ceremony, no pomp, no circumstance, no tradition, nothing. It was horrible. I never went again. The British are good at pomp and circumstance, so I was expecting great things, but no. Someone even said to me that night that it was probably nothing like "American graduation." No, it's not. It sucks! I've suggested things like "volunteer day" at my school and they just look at me like I'm nuts. What? Do community service? You must be joking.

I'm curious as to which teachers are still there that we had, even middle school?

And who retired? Heard Angeline retired? I see Joe Bear on occasions in Nazareth, when he walks his parents dog by my house, been awhile, I think they moved though.

So who's left? Partell? Ferbes?

Angeline retired, and is now the principal at Pius X, Freeman, Varkonyi & Haines retiring this year. Ferbs is still there, Reightler, Mondschein, Heffner, Mrs. May (Reed), Milne, Cadden, Post, Bydlon, Wolfe, are all still there.

And yes, you saw Mrs. Mondschein with her neice (Kim Bydlon..Bob's daughter) for the Lehigh Valley Idol competition. Bob is married to Mrs. Mondschein's sister.

I loved reading the school paper as well. It was a very nice article on Mr. Haines and it is a shame that a class has to go away because of a retirement. It definitely brings back alot of memories when you read all the stuff going on. My sister sees some of the teachers at times because she works for the teachers credit union. My sister sees Mrs. Emert alot (Middle School HomeEc) and says she hasn't changed. Imagine, we have been out of school for 22 years!!!!
