Great president, or greatest president?

Well this could get ugly.

I don't debate politics, it usually gets too nasty. But I will say I am a President Bush supporter. I voted for him and still stand behind him. A great president? I wouldn't catergorize him as such. And I definitely wouldn't say he is the greatest.

I've been spending a lot of time recently researching the candidates for 2008. Unfortunately, the man I would vote for probably won't win the Republican nomination. So I almost feel like I have to decide between the lesser of two evils.

But I guess that's off the topic.

Steve you are brave for bringing up politics...but maybe it will get people typing!

youv'e got to be kidding is all I will say.

Well, in the 18 months this blog has been up and running, we've managed to stay away from politics, so it will be interesting to see where this goes.

I'm not going to say much except that George W. Bush makes it VERY, VERY DIFFICULT to be an American living outside of the United States.

ugly & brave indeed....all that i will say, is that i did not vote for him (EITHER TIME) and would not again....

Steve, lol. LOL VERY HARD. Not even sure what to say here. I do commend you for throwing it out there.

Maybe we can just say there isn't enough room on this blog to state how "great" this president has been.

BTW, news just broke this afternoon. The Bush and Cheney offspring have united and are volunteering for the war(s). Looks like now we'll actually catch Bin Laden and bring stability to Iraq.

Ok, ok. That's not true. Did you really expect see the words Bush (Cheney), war and volunteering in the same sentence?

I not only voted for him, I helped the Republican delegate from Charlotte NC in his first campaign. Michael and I even had tickets to the inauguration that year. We didn't go because of the bad weather, but it was nice to be asked. I have disagreed with him on some issues, but have been in support of most of his policies. I suppose history will determine how well he has done.

Six days without a post - desperate measures were called for.
I also hoped this might smoke Mullen out and apparently almost so; where "almost Mullen" = "Pauko" (no offense meant to either).

"Great or greatest president" question from Stephen Colbert, btw.

If it does get ugly, I'm in the "GWB reprehensible" camp.

Vote Quimby.

No real comment here.....only to say that I feel that discussing politics divides people more and creates arguments that really none of us can truly change.

It is good to see people finally typing again.

I'll just keep my opinions to myself on this topic.

Vicki - "Difficult" - why? is it because you wish you were here to experience it first hand?

Vicky said...

Well Steve, you smoked Matt out of hiding!

Yeah, that's it Matt. I'm just not feeling the love on this side of the pond. ;-)

I did not vote for him either time and I am quite proud of that fact. I am looking so forward to having anyone else in his place in the White House. I will say, however, that I was glad he was in the White House on September 11th rather than Gore.

I believe history will not look at him too fondly.

Jamie - I believe every election is picking the least of two evils. I usually agree with the other non-party candidates and it is pretty much impossible to get one of them elected.

How about posting some good Bush jokes !! Anyone have any?
Bush is a double-edged sword for me. The republicans are very kind to the self-employed unlike the dems. I think Bush had the wrong people working for him in the early stages of his presidency. He shouldn't listen to his Dad. Cheney and Rumsfeld are smart men, but they need to evolve.
Roth, How the heck is WOLF WORLD?

Hey Robb, I just typed out a long, vitriolic reply to that but luckily the server glitched just as I hit "publish." You've all been spared by a few rogue 0's and 1's.

WW is chugging along, keeping us busy. Our XP machine has been remarkably stable, btw, altho I can't seem to establish a remote desktop connection from my Mac at home. Maybe I need a consultant or something.

In the waning hope of luring in Mullen:

"What's so bad about fascism, anyway?"

Unknown said...

Do you know any consultants? Remote from Mac to XP....hmmmm.
I recommend using GOTOMYPC or changing over to a VPN.
Vitriolic seems to be common place when discussing Bush. Does he really deserve it:)

maybe since Matt has come out of hiding, he could update us on the lost souls, ie:Mullen, Long

I would not expect anything from Mullen. Not only because I don't think he has been reading the blog, but mainly he does not talk politics anymore. We should be thankful. You'd have to clear an hour of time if he actually replied on the topic.

Robb, I downloaded two different (highly rated) apps for Mac as client to remote desktop. Neither works. My Windows machine is sitting behind a DSL modem/router. I even configured the modem to pass the IP thru to the PC, and turned the firewall completely off, still no joy. That was a creepy few minutes, btw.

Pauko, TMM isn't political anymore??!! Wtf?

And now, a Bush joke:
W puts his hand on the bible and swears to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

K - about Mullen - nothing to report, just living his life albeit quietly.

LongE - his Mom passed away 2 weeks ago. TM, JJ and i attended the service up in Wind Gap last sat. it has been a tough couple weeks for him. on the upside he is seeing somebody and they have been together for quite some time, they seem well matched.

Joe - has shuffled off to Buffalo, new job, buying a house near Carrie's parents.

thanks matt....i did see that Todd's mom passed away, let him know he's been in my thoughts....

glad to hear he's seeing someone, its been a running joke in my house(everytime we see the "tastykake man" go by) "there goes your boyfriend mom"...maybe now they'll get off that when i tell them he "left me" for someone else!

oooh, Joe...its CCCCCold in Buffalo!

Vicky said...

Matt, please pass my condolences on to Todd. Thanks.
