So, I have to ask, who does everyone like for the Super Bowl?
In this morning's Morning Call obituaries there was a young woman by the name of Robin (Brought) Fortson. I thought there was a girl from Catty with that name who graduated in 1984 but there was no mention of where she went to school so I didn't know if it was her or not. Any thoughts from anyone?
I have been notified that my painting, "Series 1: Blue Vase A," was selected for inclusion in the Englewood Arts National Juried Art Show for 2008 in Colorado. The exhibition runs from April 3 – 26, 2008.
Did anyone else watch last night's show?
There was some decent singers last night. This year might not be bad......may have to wait and see. I was really hoping that the big, black girl who was there with her sick mother could sing. Can you believe the dude in the Princess Leia outfit who actually went and got waxed!!!
What are others opinions of the show last night?

I took Georgia to London on Saturday to see Wicked - The Untold Story of The Witches of Oz. An amazing show, by the way. If you ever find yourself in New York City with three hours to spare, go see it. Anyway, it was nice to spend the day together, having lunch and talking about girl stuff while we walked to the theater. I appreciate the fact that as she becomes a teenager, she'll probably want to spend less time with me, so I'll take what I can get now!
Our little walk took us by Buckingham Palace, and Georgia noticed that the Union Flag was flying over the Palace and she pointed out to me that this means the Queen is in residence. Then she asked, "Mum, what do you think she's doing in there?"
"I don't know," I said. "Queening?"
By the way, remember The Young Ones? Neil (the hippie guy) was the Wizard. I expected him to come onstage looking like this!
This McDonald's commercial is awesome. The tune is addicting, and the dancing is spot on.
I took my 9th graders into the computer lab today and while they were getting on with their work, I was getting on with my own. The girls sitting next to me asked me how I learned to type so fast. I told them all about Mr. Celin and the huge typewriters we had to learn on back in the day. They were impressed that, 20 years after the fact, I can still type at speed.

Some of you may remember the Jacksits family from Catty. Jeff was a grad of 82 and Judy 83. Jeff's wife Leanne was also an 82 grad. Jeff is a teacher at Catty Middle School for many years now and used to be the assistant girls basketball coach. He is also MaryJo's cousin. His daughter was tragically killed over the weekend in a car accident. There has been much too much of these senseless accidents lately, and this one hits too close to home. I've been "blurking" the past 6+ months....and was having problems getting into the sight to post -some stupid password thing. We all know it takes blondes a little longer to figure things out -and I JUST FIGURED IT OUT today....I hope to be better at posting!
P.S. - Kristen, I feel your pain on the "now what" post...Toys have taken over my house. I can't wait for the spring and our annual community yard sale!...but what do we do for now??

You can eat cold pizza (even for breakfast) and know others who do the same. (Those from NY find this "barbaric.")
You not only have heard of Birch Beer, but you know it comes in several colors: Red, White, Brown and Gold.
You know several places to purchase or that serve Scrapple, Summer Sausage, Lebanon Baloney and Hot Bacon Dressing. You can eat a cold soft pretzel from a street vendor & enjoy it. It almost always comes with mustard.
You know the difference between a cheese steak & a pizza steak sandwich, and know that you can't get a really good one outside PA. (Unless a native Pennsylvanian made it.)
You live for summer, when street & county fairs signal the beginning o f funnel cake season. Customers ask the waitress for "dippy eggs" for breakfast.
You know that Blue Bell , Intercourse,
Sinking Springs and Slippery Rock are PA towns. (and the first 3 were consecutive stops on the Reading RR)
You know what a township, borough, and commonwealth are.
You can identify drivers from
irritating driving habits.
A traffic jam is 10 cars waiting to pass a horse-drawn carriage on the Route 30 in LancasterCounty OR anytime you travel on the Schuylkill Expressway (pronounced Sure Kill by the natives). You know several people who have hit deer more than once.
You carry jumper cables in your car & your female passengers know how to use them. You still keep kitty litter, deicer, window washer fluid, and a snowbrush in your trunk, even if you now live in the south.
Driving is always better in winter because the potholes are filled with snow. You are also an expert at
driving on snow and ice, unlike many non-native Pennsylvanians.
As a kid you built snow forts and leaf piles that were taller than you were. Your graduating class consisted of mostly Polish, German, Pennsylvania Dutch & Italian names.
You know beer doesn't grow in a garden but you know where to find a beer garden.
You also know someone who lives "down the lane."
You actually understand all this & send it on to other Pennsylvanians or former Pennsylvanians!
YEAH ! ! THAT'S "PA" AND WE LOVE IT {sometimes}
And send it to people that never lived in PA and confuse them.

When we arrived home early on New Year's Day, we had two unexpected visitors in our back yard. We had thought on Monday that we saw deer tracks in our front yard, in the coating of snow. But thought, "no, they wouldn't be here." That makes two nights in a row, and we're not sure what they are attracted to here, but certainly they have been roaming the streets lately. The guys from the party we were at are hunters and came up to see them. That chased them out of the yard, and they jumped the fence to the neighbors yard. Not sure where they went from there. Trisha was a bit upset because she wanted to go down and pet them. Brad is going out now to clean up the droppings, I hope! Happy New Year everyone! Did anyone do anything interesting?
