New Season

I love this show. I am nearly done with school, and this is the show that let's me know that summer has arrived. Now that House is over for the season, King of Queens is over for good (thank God for syndication and re-runs), and AI has come to another season end, I will look to Gordon for "inspiration". At times, I wish I could say to my students what he says to his. He is all real, and the show is one of the better reality shows around.

I remember the first Survivor, but have not watched since. I remember AI when Kelly and Justin were on, but it's starting to get out of hand at times (also, I can't watch AI rewind, just does nothing for me).

I enjoy this show and am glad it's back for another season of Gordon telling his students, "You've got to be kidding me; you call that chicken." and "Get out of my kitchen, NOW!".

So, what's everyone else think? Let's blog folks.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Gordon Ramsay! He's really a big softie though. ;-)

He has a several restaurants in London and one of them is called The F Word. Once a week he does a show from there where he's training young chefs and has a celebrity challenger come in and make a recipe (usually dessert). Then they serve their desserts to the diners and there's a vote who made the best one. Gordon always loses! He also raised his own turkeys for Christmas last year, and had them slaughtered during one of the shows. He said it was important for people to know where their food comes from, because people would be more inclined to eat better quality food (meat in particular) if they knew the story of its journey to the plate. It was very humane how the turkeys were killed (after having lived a totally free range lifestyle in his backyard), and it occurred to me after watching that show that I should be a vegetarian, because I couldn't kill my own dinner.

Looking forward to seeing the season premiere. I only saw a few episodes last year. MJ, I think it's on Fox.

i've seen the commercials for this show, but it didnt interest me, even though brad & I are somewhat of foodtv-aholics...i think if i were to become addicted to another reality show, he would be telling me to "get out NOW!"

watched last night...why would anyone do this? ok, I know, for the chance to win the prize. the whole show consisted of Gordon yelling and cursing and the contestants crying...I was however impressed at the nominations after she told the one girl "you're not going home" and thats exactly what happened...of course, now I will probably continue to watch anyway just to see what happens, but it wont be a must see for me like the other shows I am hooked on...it will simply be a summer watch if i can show, sort of like Big Brother...does anyone watch that?

I don't watch Big Brother, but you saw exactly what happens during the show. Backstabbing, lying, and Gordon cursing at the contestants. I've been told that Gordon shows how chefs are in posh restaurants. Most head chefs are exactly that way. I guess when you charge hundreds of dollars for food, you tend to be uptight.

My early prediction is that he likes Melissa (he has always shown a liking for the attractive females - just an observation after watching the show for so many years), and Aaron will not make it very far if he keeps crying like a wuss all the time.

They just started the 8th season of Big Brother here and I can't stand it. I stopped watching about 7 years ago. I have to admit I don't watch Hell's Kitchen because I really don't like reality TV. But Ramsay's straightforward cooking shows - I wouldn't miss them for anything.

Hey guys - Sounds like this guy is a bit of a riot. Every reality show needs some controversy to make it interesting. I'll have to tune in next time. TV selections are slim this time of the year. Hope you don't mind if I change subjects. Would any of you bloggers vacation in Ocean City, MD? I have a 7 and a 9 year old and we're always looking for one more interesting thing to do there. Any suggestions? Good waterparks, laser tag, etc?

mare, i absolutely hate oc, md in the summer...it is way overcrowded...however, it may not be as bad when the kids are at the age yours are or older, depending on their personality and what you like to do...the waiting at restaurants is horrible unless you go the early bird route...same with mini-golf...you probably dont want to go as far as myrtle beach (if you do, stay in N. myrtle beach because MB is like OC) beaches nicer & less crowded...you will still find waiting at restaurants but much more laid back & less hurried...i do remember going to Long Beach Island, Beach Haven, NJ when we were younger and my bro still goes there with his family...its not so commercialized..i think OC has alot more young adults that get to go there w/out parents and there are alot of rental places that will rent out "party houses"..i suggest staying closer to the MD/DE border, that way you get away from the boardwalk and amusements if you want, but still a quick drive when you want to go down there...and its only like 1/2 hour drive back to rehoboth attractions. we like to go the weekend after thanksgiving!

well said K I think OC is for the party crowd. The boardwalk is packed at night and dirty!!! Last time I was there a guy was walking right next to me smoking a joint. Not exactly kid friendly. I am a sucker for the Outer Banks. Love it there it's so relaxing. I hate when the beach is so crowded you can't relax w/ kids. At the OBX its just you and the next house and the next house each having your own private section of beach to hog.

Anyway I watched the show last night thought a bit to much cursing since I was watching w/ Austin. But I may tune in again for lack of anything else to watch.

MJ and Kristen - couldn't agree more. If we had more time to spend, that would be the best route. However, long story, but the lodging is free. So we have a free long weekend. I never thought about the OC in November. You might have something there.

I will only go to Ocean City after Labor Day.....for all the reasons MJ and Kristen said.

I find the 3rd weekend in September is not too bad.

We started staying in Ocean Pines which is about 10 minutes outside ocean city md. It is like being in the mountains yet at the beach. We mix up the week. Go to the beach a few days. Outlets in Rohobeth which is about 1/2hr away. Go to Salisbury Zoo about 1/2 hr away. Do the Cape May Lewis Ferry which is pretty cool. Takes you to Cape May and back to Lewis. About an hour trip each way. You can take your car aboard the Ferry if you want and get off at Cape May and spend the day there. We are going the end of July this year. We used to go the first week in June. I don't suggest June all the Grads there then and partying.

Mare said...

Thanks Rock. We've never taken the ferry. Could be fun for the kids.

I haven't been to OC for years. Probably not since HS. We usually go the the OBX with a 3 other families and rent a big house. This year we are staying in Nags Head. I agree with MJ that it is great to just be at the beach by your house and not fighting the crowds. This year we are going the last week in July. Between the baseball season and then the football season, we only have about a 3 week window to do anything.
