So on Sunday it started raining, and it finally stopped at 10pm last night. We had one month's worth of rain in 24 hours, and most of Yorkshire is underwater. My neighbors' houses flooded yesterday, but for some reason this end of the street was spared. There is a dam about 15 miles away which is about to burst, and if it does a lot of water will come streaming up the River Don and then we will be flooded. My hairdresser came for our appointment at 4:00, and not long after her husband arrived to say that she needed to come home, because the police had given them an hour to evacuate. They live around the corner from us. Georgia went to school today and was sent home at 11:00, because the road to the school was becoming impassable. There are some pictures of what's happening. Cross your fingers, toes, and all other appendages that we stay dry.

So, you're about to be flooded out and you're posting to the blog? Tightly knot a plastic bag over your PC - all shall be well.
Godspeed
good luck, hopefully the damn will hold...wait a minute, you mean your hairdresser makes housecalls? i need that right about now!
Steve, the police went by about an hour ago to survey the flooding. I think they'll make a decision whether or not to evacuate this street in the next couple hours. What can I do? I'll wait it out and blog.
Kristen, everybody makes housecalls here - hairdressers, nail technicians, beauticians, doctors. Granted, you have to be practically dying for the doctor to come out, but they will. My sister in law has a lady come out to her house once a month to wax her legs and bikini line!
ouch!
Hope all is well Vicki a flood can be so devestating. Your in our prayers.
Vicki,
Let's hear about the flood and hope it didn't effect you!
