And Another Thing...

that I miss about the U.S.A. is the fact that summer vacation has already started over there. After this week, we have four - count 'em - FOUR MORE WEEKS. Okay, my last week is spent on the 8th Grade trip to Paris, but still, it's three more weeks. I can think of better things I could do with those three weeks. Georgia asked me last Sunday if this was the last week of school. I wish.

Those of you that have time off in the summer - how do you spend your summer vacation? I know El Presidente watches Gordon Ramsay and hugs his barbecue.

You got that right.
I love getting up every morning and NOT having to shave right away (or at all, if I don't feel like it). My day goes basically the same and is very slow.
0 - get a nice large cup of coffee
1 - get up and read the blog (as I am doing right now)
2 - go to Gold's for a workout (still trimming down - and I won the biggest loser {$120.00 cha ching})
3 - come home and survey the pool - usually vacuum, always skim the bugs
4 - go in and watch Maury (YOU ARE NOT THE FATHER never gets old in my mind)
5 - Pogo a bit (Texas Hold 'Em - or something else that is mindless)
6 - contemplate working on my graduate classes (don't usually do them though)
7 - by this point, everyone else is up in the house and they plan the rest of my day (go to ride bikes, go shoot hoops at the park, go to Chucky Cheese if its raining, blah, blah, blah)
8 - nothing!

well lets see my day goes something like this.....wake up about 8 or 9, feed the kids, possibly clean something, garden or do some wash. Go for a good brisk walk (treadmill) and then decide who we are going to call and see if they can come over and hang by the pool. I try to get to the library w/ the kids at least once every 2 weeks and on rainy days we go to the movies or play games. Lets see then around 4 or 5 I make dinner. Once baseball ends we have no structured activities. I like the kids to have down time but they are not allowed to veg out at the tv or play video games too much. They must be outside when its nice. The one perk about driving the bus that I love is I sit at home and collect my unemployment check all summer. Actually by the end of August I am ready to go back to work because the kids are on my last nerve from bickering and I get bored.

By the way Steve I didn't see anything about you helping out w/ the housework I hope that you just forgot to mention that!!!

i start my day usually by being woken up by trisha yelling as loud as she can "moooooooom, i'm ready to wake uuuuuuup!" , have coffee, read the paper, do the cryptoquote, make breakfast, take a shower, play outside if its nice, swim...we will be going to myrtle beach again in about 3 weeks...right now, an unexpected and unwelcomed twist to our summer came on tuesday (the squemish should not read on!)...Lucas was hit in the nose with an aluminum bat on tuesday night at jakes game...we rushed him to the ER where he received a cat scan and 14 stiches, his nose is broken and he had a huge gash on the top of his nose. i sat up all tues night watching him sleep, making sure he did not bleed. i must say he has not complained once since we left the ER. his face is obviously swollen so we spend the day icing. right now he looks like rocky dennis (from the movie MASK-with cher, not jim carrey) i'll tell you, it couldve been alot worse! tomorrow we will see a plastic surgeon to see if any further treatment will be needed. i am hoping not! so needless to say, his summer of nerf baseball and fun in the sun at the park has come to a screeching halt. we will have to take extra care at the beach to keep the sun off his face, but other than that, our days a pretty much very laid back..as much as they can be with 3 energetic kids...MJ are you still planning to go the game fri night?

OMG...Kristen that is so awefull how did that happen??? Don't tell me he walked into the batters box....yes we will see you on Friday night my mom is staying over so I won't have to drag Lindsey along.

no, he didnt walk into the batters box....they dont have enough room up there for the bigger kids, even in the box..there was a guy in the box and the kid that hit luke was outside the box, luke was coming out of the dugout and it was just perfect timing....anyway, they have to finish this game because it was called for lightening...we were down 8-1 until the bottom of the 6th..we tied it up and have a man on 2nd & 3rd...salisbury was in the process of walking the next batter to load the basis...now we have to go to salisbury tonight (because both our fields are taken) for what may only be 4 outs...dont really want to, but lucas wants to go, i know he's going stir crazy in the house for so long...i'll see ya tomorrow night!

Kristen...just ready about your son's injury made me cringe. I am so not used to boy stuff...what the heck am I going to do when John gets older?

Our summer just blends into the rest of the year. Same schedule, same routine, blah, blah, blah. But next year we are definitely going to the beach. We're going to go in September...great way to celebrate my 40th!

That should say READING not READY! I think I need another cup of coffee!

Jamie if I recall our mothers were in the hospital together so we shall celebrate our 40th around the same time. I am on the 21st and we too are planning a nice trip to celebrate.

Kristen, just reading about Lucas is making me cringe! I hope he is going to be ok. Even though I have 3 boys, we haven't had any major injuries like that. I'm not sure how I would handle seeing too much blood. I hope he has a complete and speedy recovery.

thanks carol, he is really doing well, we went to jakes game tonight and everyone cant believe how good he looks...in that situation, you dont have much choice but to remain calm...believe me, i've had my moments, but not in front of the kids!
