Jude - No I don't, but I'm laughing anyway. Give us more!
Eight Grade........Remember changing our section from 8 6 to 8 7? We weren't allowed to sit as a group in the lunchroom because we were too loud. We could only sit with one other person. As we filed through the lunch line, Ms. K separated us.
the frank story: well one morning when we were all standing outside waiting for the doors to open, i was up on the steps and i got nailed right in the face by a slushball that someone had heaved from way down on the sidewalk. let me tell you, that thing had some weight to it. i'm pretty sure the culprit was steve roth, who lead me to believe it was frank. i, being the level-headed 6th grader i was, (you know, with no signs of anger issues, right mr. long?), take a running start, all the way down that longish hallway outside of the metalshop room, leap in to the air when i reach frank as he's unsuspectlingly kneeling down in front of his locker, and smash my fist into his noggin with all my strength.
he had to go to the doctor and i gave him a slight concussion. his mom inisted that he no longer sit next to me in catechism class.
Special K? funny story, somehow when when of my great Aunts passed, she had a dog we had to pawn off on somebody, and guess who answered the ad? yup mr Kresley. between that and my parents buying Rusty's dad's dog, there some odd animal karma going round.
easy what? we called Angeline scumball to his face when we were still in school.
mr. k. ahhh, how he indulged my damned stenciling and leather jacketing painting. i just finished taking a pottery class and i telling the folks in there that it reminds me of high school art class.
did i mention that i've kept in touch with dan brown?
steve roth, that you? how the hell are you and who threw that slushball?
this may be hard to believe, but i don't have 1 single tattoo on my bod. good thing dennis and i decided against matching pie-sized skulls on our biceps.
J - I really don't remember. I remember the super-nug, tho. Maybe my super-nug memory is there because it was cemented in place by my guilty conscience, and the slushball guilt was so great I've blocked that one.
Jude- man....I'm crying over the Frank story. That's great. Hey, who was the metal shop teacher? aka wood shop teacher...aka...whatever the heck we made teacher?
Yikes! I had no idea...what did he teach? Who was the teacher across from Mr. Muenker, wrestling guy? I remember a big crush.
One more Lincoln memory....remember we used to do the President's Fitness Award in gym class. It required us to hang from that stupid bar on the wall. How humiliating! I think it was Darcy that would hang there for hours.
Kristin -you're right he did date Joe's sister (Janelle). He graduated with us...used to hang out with Chris Henry. Accoring to Matt -he's in Texas (See the posts under my bio...combined with this -it's way too funny!! Check it out...
Ok, no one is on all day and now everyone is blogging away when I should be going to sleep. I just read about Mr. Villani,ewww. What did he teach? I'm thinking I had him for some history class, but maybe that was someone else. I also don't remember the shop teacher's name, but he did give me the creeps.
Hey carol - I think Villani was History (across the hall from Muenker -there's a "combo" for you!). Was shop Mr. Noethstein (sp?). Looks like everyone's calling it a night -you just getting on?
Judy, your story about pounding on Frank also made me laugh. I have some vague memory of that happening.
For some reason I don't seem to remember a whole lot about Lincoln. Maybe if everyone keeps talking I will recall some things. I do remember writing on the walls before they renovated the old part. Did we do the Wizard of Oz in Lincoln or was that Sheckler? I'm thinking Wendy played Dorothy.
I hear you...What I want to know is how the hell does Freeman remember all this stuff!! I can't wait to see his Lincoln "Part II". I saw Pauko posting a few minutes ago...but it's getting very quiet!
Hey Jeff, it still makes me laugh about your poor wife's new name. I didn't think it could be worse than to grow up with a last name like "Schleicher" which no one outside of Catty could spell or pronounce.
Sounds like a scam....it's really just so they can recycle all the cans w/o having to take the labels off!!
Yeh - The name is pretty funny....I occassionally got the "Your middle name is $5" comment -usually from the Junior class...but this one tops it. Poor girl -I'm sure I have her terrified to meet everyone now -but she's as easy going as they come, down-to-earth. She knows I just like to joke!
I don't know why...but one memory of Lincoln I have is an end of year play -The Sound of Music that Tim Sheckler and Wendy Marks were in. They did an incredible job in that. I think Vicki was in it too...Doe a Deer, A Female Deer...
I'm working on digging up a picture (of both of us) to post at some point -just to get Sonya off my Back! I seem to have a ton of old photos, but not many good digital ones....
Now it is all coming back to me. I think Vicki played the head nun and Wendy usually played all the leads because she could actually sing. That was a great performance.
We just got a digital camera and I am still trying to figure it out. Not sure if I am ready to post a picture of myself yet. Someone will have to go first.
as you are all going to bed....i'm just checking in....it's been a long day here! great to read all of your funny memories....can't help but laugh my ass off.....villani gay is still grossing me out...i would have thought mr. freeman....(not your steve, teacher freeman)....he always seemed a little strange to me.
And I'm hoping to have a photo of that soon. I distinctly remember my Sound of Music pictures...now I just have to find them. If they aren't here...they must be at my parents'. So we'll see you as Mother Abbess sooon!!!
She always seems to be in trouble doesn't she? My ONLY line in that play. You can see how much I practiced it. That play was too much fun. I think we did Ms. Lux in because she came back with that TEEN play the next year. Ugh! BTW, the lead in Oz was not Wendy, it was Tina Kratzer. Debbie was Glinda the good witch. Frank the Tin Man. Bob Braeder the Wizard. Rodney Heckman ws the Lion. Who was the scarecrow?
NO...It wasn't Miss Lux. Remember she left and joined the Navy!(Just heard from her recently, she's living in FL). That new music teacher came and did TEEN and we just rolled our eyes at her!
Oh the memories that are flooding back. That teacher Was Mrs. Hofmann, and the only reason I remember that is because I still have the program. My mom saved everything and then she passed it on to me.
yea lew that sounds familiar, how bout the girl after Basilone and the kid between fehnel and foster..or did we cover that already, i'll have to look back
matt--judy's bio and donna scarbos on classmates also said they dont like kids....might have to ask her if she still feels that way...not that there is anything wrong with that.
sorry, colin, i dont think it is, considering we are in alpha order, and tammy hanna is "H"...what do you do there at the college anyway, not a prof i hope!! just kidding
Hey - I think it was Frank who was the scarecrow, Tim Sheckler who was the tin man and Rodney Heckman was the lion. Where's Vicki when I need her. I think she would know. Jamie? Don't let Colin take the dive.
Hey I am thinking Frank was the Tin Man, Rodney was the Lion and was there a Bob Hayman or something like that who played the scarecrow? Not sure where that name came from.
Mare - It's coming back to me now...I was off on Colin, but wasn't Frank the LION?? I remember him "playing with his tail" in nearly every scene -what a Ham! That would leave Tim as the Tinman, and I think Bud Hayman was the Scarecrow...then who was Rodney?!?!?
Andrea...that is it. SO does this sound right: Wizard - Rodney Tinman - Tim Sheckler Lion - Frank Scarecrow - Bud Hayman (I seem to remember his big Red freckles being a natural fit with those overalls!)
I'm here Mare. I tried logging on last night before bed (around 10pm - 5pm your time) but you guys were clogging the blog!! So much pressure to remember so early in the morning:
Dorothy - some chick who was a year older than us and wore glasses. Can't remember her name. We had to call the ruby slippers the red shoes for copyright reasons. Wizard-Rodney Tinman-Tim Sheckler Lion-Frank Scarecrow - Bud Hayman Wicked Witch - Can't remember. 7a.m. More coffee.
The 70's were good to no one.
ReplyDeleteI believe the middle school years were definetely scarier than Sheckler days.
ReplyDeleteyou've got nothing to complain about wait til we get to my middle school pics.
ReplyDeletewho in the hell has middle school yearbooks? i don't even remember the option to get one. i havea whole box of slam books my mom just sent.
ReplyDeletenow my brain is goign to go into overdrive kickstarting the linclon memories.
anyone recall me giving frank olszeski (sp?) the noogy of his life.
Jude - No I don't, but I'm laughing anyway. Give us more!
ReplyDeleteEight Grade........Remember changing our section from 8 6 to 8 7? We weren't allowed to sit as a group in the lunchroom because we were too loud. We could only sit with one other person. As we filed through the lunch line, Ms. K separated us.
hi mare -
ReplyDeletethe frank story: well one morning when we were all standing outside waiting for the doors to open, i was up on the steps and i got nailed right in the face by a slushball that someone had heaved from way down on the sidewalk. let me tell you, that thing had some weight to it. i'm pretty sure the culprit was steve roth, who lead me to believe it was frank. i, being the level-headed 6th grader i was, (you know, with no signs of anger issues, right mr. long?), take a running start, all the way down that longish hallway outside of the metalshop room, leap in to the air when i reach frank as he's unsuspectlingly kneeling down in front of his locker, and smash my fist into his noggin with all my strength.
he had to go to the doctor and i gave him a slight concussion. his mom inisted that he no longer sit next to me in catechism class.
he later forgave me.
and i don't recall that, btw mare.
ReplyDeletehow about how mr. hassler (the younger one) used to rag on tracy paine?
mr. semmel? mr. minker? mr. breon? mr. superka and his white patent leather shoes.

once again, the end of my day and i'm the lone blogger.
ReplyDeleteany takers?
what do think , should we even any of those teachers to the blog? how about Angeline the scumball?
ReplyDeleteSpecial K? funny story, somehow when when of my great Aunts passed, she had a dog we had to pawn off on somebody, and guess who answered the ad? yup mr Kresley. between that and my parents buying Rusty's dad's dog, there some odd animal karma going round.
ReplyDeleteeasy what? we called Angeline scumball to his face when we were still in school.
now where'd Judy go?
ReplyDeletewe're entering the realm of high school nostalgia? my mind feels like the movie memento.
ReplyDeletei'm working and blogging at the same time.
ReplyDeletemr. k. ahhh, how he indulged my damned stenciling and leather jacketing painting. i just finished taking a pottery class and i telling the folks in there that it reminds me of high school art class.
ReplyDeletedid i mention that i've kept in touch with dan brown?
excellent flick, were you planning on having some things inked on your limbs so you can remember them?
ReplyDeleteJudy,
ReplyDeleteThat wasn't me!
Dan Brown? well get him here!
ReplyDeletesteve roth, that you? how the hell are you and who threw that slushball?
ReplyDeletethis may be hard to believe, but i don't have 1 single tattoo on my bod. good thing dennis and i decided against matching pie-sized skulls on our biceps.

ReplyDeleteblog haiku:

J - I really don't remember.
ReplyDeleteI remember the super-nug, tho. Maybe my super-nug memory is there because it was cemented in place by my guilty conscience, and the slushball guilt was so great I've blocked that one.
Maybe Matt should've went for a forum, or chat room, even.
ReplyDeleteright, it's a repressed memory. maybe you can get some discount moral psycho-analysis from john. sort it all out.
ReplyDeleteyou still play music? actually , what's your story? still in pa? d&d? i'm guessing settlers.

ReplyDeleteJude- man....I'm crying over the Frank story. That's great. Hey, who was the metal shop teacher? aka wood shop teacher...aka...whatever the heck we made teacher?
ReplyDeleteahhhh mare. just a few more hits.
ReplyDeletei have no idea who that guy was. remember mr. deutch? he used to make inappropriate comments to me in the 8th grade.
Yikes! I had no idea...what did he teach? Who was the teacher across from Mr. Muenker, wrestling guy? I remember a big crush.
ReplyDeleteOne more Lincoln memory....remember we used to do the President's Fitness Award in gym class. It required us to hang from that stupid bar on the wall. How humiliating! I think it was Darcy that would hang there for hours.
Mare - I think that was Mr. Villani....I think he "groomed" Bill Meyers -if you know what I mean!
ReplyDeletedo you guys know, mr v is gay, yep, after 25 years of marriage, he left her for him!!
ReplyDeletepity all you former wrestlers of his! you can all have bad dreams now! (hey that includes my husband) eeww!!
ReplyDeleteKristin....That's scary -but that really explains a lot. Maybe I wasn't too far off on Bill!!
ReplyDeleteMatt, there's no way I'm donning a singlet ever again.....
didnt joe (yet to check in) jackson's sister date him? did he grad with us? anyone know where he is now?
ReplyDeleteBill Meyer married Janelle Jackson. They live in Texas.
ReplyDeletejeff, i think youre safe then, thanks longe for clearing that up
ReplyDeletePerhaps if we would ever find Joe, we could also get in touch with Bill.
ReplyDeleteKristin -you're right he did date Joe's sister (Janelle). He graduated with us...used to hang out with Chris Henry. Accoring to Matt -he's in Texas (See the posts under my bio...combined with this -it's way too funny!! Check it out...
ReplyDeleteLong - Don't do me any favors....I'll have a few posts to delete prior to then (of course he'll realize that I was ONLY KIDDING!!) -Right??
ReplyDeleteread slowly... Bill was already here.
ReplyDeleteMatt - Slow ain't my thing....(I'm blonde what can I say..). I haven't seen a single post from him...Enlighten me.
ReplyDeleteOk, no one is on all day and now everyone is blogging away when I should be going to sleep. I just read about Mr. Villani,ewww. What did he teach? ReplyDeleteI hear you...What I want to know is how the hell does Freeman remember all this stuff!! I can't wait to see his Lincoln "Part II". I saw Pauko posting a few minutes ago...but it's getting very quiet!
ReplyDeleteHey Jeff, it still makes me laugh about your poor wife's new name. I didn't think it could be worse than to grow up with a last name like "Schleicher" which no one outside of Catty could spell or pronounce.
ReplyDeleteI remember cutting all the labels off the Campbell's cans at home. Did we actually get anything for doing that?
ReplyDeleteJeff, I don't know how he will have a part 2 either, I can't remember most of the part 1 things.
ReplyDeleteWe still cut off the Campbell soup labels for my kids school. Supposedly you get some money for each label, but not sure how it works exactly.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a scam....it's really just so they can recycle all the cans w/o having to take the labels off!!
ReplyDeleteYeh - The name is pretty funny....I occassionally got the "Your middle name is $5" comment -usually from the Junior class...but this one tops it. It will be great to meet her. She sounds like fun.

ReplyDeleteThat's right -she was the Nun. Too bad we didn't have digital camera's back then -or we'd have a lot of good photos to post!
ReplyDeleteI'll send you (& Sonya) instructions..Hell -I'll even walk you through it!
ReplyDeleteInstructions would be good but I still won't go first. Yes, if we would have had digital cameras then oh the blackmail photos we could share now.
ReplyDeleteThink I'm out of her for tonight....Catch everyone later!
ReplyDeleteI'm headed to bed also. Talk to everyone tomorrow. G'nite.
ReplyDeleteas you are all going to bed....i'm just checking in....it's been a long day here! great to read all of your funny memories....can't help but laugh my ass off.....villani gay is still grossing me out...i would have thought mr. freeman....(not your steve, teacher freeman)....he always seemed a little strange to me.
ReplyDeleteI was the head nun (the Mutha) and Mare and Jamie (and possibly Kim?) were my minions. Mare, how do you solve a problem like Maria?
ReplyDeleteI remember I looked like Dr. Bunsen Honeydew from the Muppets in my nun suit.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm hoping to have a photo of that soon. I distinctly remember my Sound of Music pictures...now I just have to find them. If they aren't here...they must be at my parents'. So we'll see you as Mother Abbess sooon!!!

ReplyDeleteJamie, I think you mean we'll see pictures of me as Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, with my big round head stuffed in that nun thingy.
ReplyDeleteHow could we for get TEEN. Being a teen...just a stage in between...being a teen...
ReplyDeleteYou know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteA new beginning now...being a TEEN.
ReplyDeleteOh the memories that are flooding back. That teacher Was Mrs. Hofmann, and the only reason I remember that is because I still have the program. My mom saved everything and then she passed it on to me.
ReplyDeleteBut do you still have your TEEN t-shirt? :o)
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure I DO NOT have that t-shirt. Didn't even remember we had one.
ReplyDeleteMare - Was Colin the Scarecrow???
ReplyDeleteSomehow I have this image...
does anyone remember the girls name between shuey and yastrop?
ReplyDeleteyea lew that sounds familiar, how bout the girl after Basilone and the kid between fehnel and foster..or did we cover that already, i'll have to look back
ReplyDeletei dont think anyone did name this class...i dont recall the name of the kid after randy either??
ReplyDeletewhen did Mike Bonowitz (next to M Bednar) cease to be in our class?
ReplyDeleteand where is Joe Basilone? surely Colin or Roth has some info.
btw - Bob Brader's classmates.com bio puts him in NYC and doesn't enjoy kids, hmmmm? not that there is anything wrong with that.
matt--judy's bio and donna scarbos on classmates also said they dont like kids....might have to ask her if she still feels that way...not that there is anything wrong with that.
ReplyDeleteKristen, The girl after JB is Tammy Hannah i believe. She was an outsider from Hanover Township like myself.
ReplyDeleteMatt, I have not communicated with Joe in an age.
Jeff, As I have very little singing or acting talent I was definately not the scarecrow although some might say that I do not have a heart.
sorry, colin, i dont think it is, considering we are in alpha order, and tammy hanna is "H"...what do you do there at the college anyway, not a prof i hope!! just kidding
ReplyDeleteColin - the scarecrow was without a brain, which might explain a lot.
ReplyDeletei had to cheat to get this but Jody Becker is next to Baz.
I am struggling today. That still looks kind of like Tammy Hannah.
ReplyDeleteHey - I think it was Frank who was the scarecrow, Tim Sheckler who was the tin man and Rodney Heckman was the lion. Where's Vicki when I need her. I think she would know. Jamie? Don't let Colin take the dive.
ReplyDeleteHey I am thinking Frank was the Tin Man, Rodney was the Lion and was there a Bob Hayman or something like that who played the scarecrow? Not sure where that name came from.
ReplyDeletestace, its about time, now all we need is your bio, with pics....
ReplyDeletecolin, sorry, still wrong
i dont remember that jody becker name at all, matt cheat again, how about the kid after fehnel and after gillespie?
David Gouger
ReplyDeleteso why did you beat up Linda Delp?
ReplyDeleteMare - It's coming back to me now...I was off on Colin, but wasn't Frank the LION?? I remember him "playing with his tail" in nearly every scene -what a Ham! That would leave Tim as the Tinman, and I think Bud Hayman was the Scarecrow...then who was Rodney?!?!?
ReplyDeletei thought rodney was the lion....he had a rounder face and in that lion head costume...i can still see him.....wasn't frank the scarecrow...
ReplyDeleteYou could be right -but I swear I remember Frank whacking everyone with his tail...
ReplyDeletehold on.....who played the wizard? maybe that was rodney...
ReplyDeleteAndrea...that is it. SO does this sound right:
ReplyDeleteWizard - Rodney
Tinman - Tim Sheckler
Lion - Frank
Scarecrow - Bud Hayman (I seem to remember his big Red freckles being a natural fit with those overalls!)
Now who was the Dorothy & the wicked witch??
I'm here Mare. I tried logging on last night before bed (around 10pm - 5pm your time) but you guys were clogging the blog!! So much pressure to remember so early in the morning:
ReplyDeleteDorothy - some chick who was a year older than us and wore glasses. Can't remember her name. We had to call the ruby slippers the red shoes for copyright reasons.
Wizard-Rodney
Tinman-Tim Sheckler
Lion-Frank
Scarecrow - Bud Hayman
Wicked Witch - Can't remember. 7a.m. More coffee.
No, scarecrow was Bobby Hayman, not Bud.
ReplyDeleteStill can't remember the witch. I'm working on it, okay?!?
i thought dorothy was wendy marks and her dog was julie heckman....not sure who was the witch....
ReplyDeleteWendy called me to try and clear this up.
ReplyDeleteDorothy was Tina Kratzer and she thought the witch was Kim Kerstetter.
